Well summer is in full swing now and it's the perfect time to really lay into my 99 GST project car. Since gas is about 3 dollars a gallon to much, I will not be doing any more power adding for now. That being said I have decieded to work on the interior and start saving for a paint job and rims/tires. I am down to two colours: Pitch Black or Candy Apple Blood Red. As for rims Im not so sure, I know I would like 5 or 6 spoke. Maybe Enkei or Koing? I also have under-way, as I type this, a complete gray to black interior project that is going very well. All I have left to do is the head-liner, carpet, and the rear window trim. Im also replacing all the stock interior lighting with red neon tubes or red bulbs. Four more things left; new front seats, complete audio build, gauges, and a new steering wheel. Phew! It's gonna be a busy summer! laugh.gif

I went with a buddy to Brok..... a place in Oklahoma, last saturday and on the way there I decided to let my GST stretch its legs a little after I pasted a truck poking along at 60. I dropped it in to 4th and we were off to the races! The neddle on the speedometer kept climbing and climbing and climbing until it hit the buck twenty-five mark and my buddy started yelling at me to slow the **** down. So I slowed down. On the way back I just had to see how fast my lightly moded Eclipse could go. I got back to the same stretch of road and let my right foot get to know the floor-board real good. 100, 110, 120, 125, 130 and then right at 135 mph with 1000 rpm left till redline I hit what Im guessing is a govener and the gas stopped flowing and I couldn't go any faster............. What happened? How can I get rid of the govener, if that was what it was? Is that a normal thing to happen?

Thanks,
Matt

(If anyone asks, it never happened. ph34r.gif )

Ok here's what I have done to my 99 GST so far on the performance side: complete APEXi N1 exhaust system (boy does it sound good) and a K&N FIPK. I am thinking about upgrading the stock CBV. The HKS SSQ BOV seams to be the perfect fit for me. However, it vents to the atmosphere, so is there anyway I can rig it to where it re-circulates into the intake?

OK here's the 411, I blew the tranny on my 99 GST, and a freind of mine has a 93 eclipse that he's selling for scrap parts. (blown engine) He says the tranny is in great shape, infact he just bought the tranny (new) thats in it about 5 months ago. So can I put his tranny in my 99 eclipse? The real question is: can you do a 7 bolt to 6 bolt conversion? I may have the bolt to year model messed up, so please forgive me if I do.

Ok, since I opened up the exhaust I decieded to get a new air filter for it as well.
I have narrowed it down to two; HKS Super Mega Flow air filter, and K&N F.I.P.K.
Both, as far as I know, replace the air box, and retain the MAS. The K&N filter gives a 7.7 hp gain, and I dont know what the hp gain is for the HKS. SO my questions are: Has anyone used either one of these filters? Did you like them? What are the pros and cons of each? What's the hp gain for the HKS filter? Does the fact that they are "wet" filters hurt the MAS? Will either of them fit in future intake pipe upgrades? I'm hoping to order one of them on Monday, so any help as fast as possible would be great.
