How is that engine supported in the stand?? It lookes like it's just hanging off the bolt threads!

The stand we had worked like a charm no problems.
We hacked up the factory 2G EGR cover to make our 1G EGR block off. |

WAIT ONE MINUTE!!! Don't tell me you used a Felpro headgasket please! Much like the stocker, the Felpro gasket will blow at anything much more than 16lbs of boost on stock head studs. ARP studs increase this by a little, but not much. Sorry bud, but I can't say that you'll be all that happy with the results if you put anything more than the stock turbo on that car because you'll be doing a headgasket job too.

No. This is the premium gasket from NAPA not sure of the name off the top of my head. They gave me the wrong gasket set twice and upgraded the last one on there bill. Also Larry at precision said felpro was the way to go.

Ok, fair enough, do what you want but don't say I didn't warn you.
Felpro is what was suggested to put on my car as well. It blew shortly after running 18lbs of boost on that same gasket. There are countless threads on DSMTuners on this topic. The multilayer Mitsu 4-layer gasket is a slightly more expensive alternative that will stand up to 25lbs of boost with ARP studs. -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

If you combine this and a set of ARP head studs you'll be safe for running higher than stock boost. MITSU# MD 349347 Slowboy Price: $94.99 -------------------- "I hear he tunes the space shuttle also...and that thing is fast"

fel-pro = fel blow in the DSM world.
Might be ok for a stock car, but they don't hold much outside of stock boost ranges. -------------------- The fastest car I own is a minivan....

I ran a Fel-Pro for about a 9 months on stock boost with no problems. It was probably only about 4,000 miles though

Check the link and scroll down to the SCE ICS Titan Copper head gasket.
http://www.ffwdconnection.com/headgaskets.shtml IMO, this is the head gasket to end all head gaskets. Its what I use on my car. They have been tested to hold 43 psi and over 1800 horses on varying applications. A little more expensive than the Mitsu 4 layer or the Cometic, but I think the extra money spent is worthwhile considering how easy it is to turn that boost up and pop a head gasket. |

Felpro or stock IS the way to go, IF you have an o-ringed block. If it's not a stock rebuild nothing leves the shop with a "stock" head gasket.
-------------------- Yeah!!!!!!!!!!! AND WASH THAT THING OFF BEFORE YOU COME BACK!!! GROSS
FP 3065, Ported 2G exahust manifold, AEM EMS, 3" 02 housing, Shepard Racing Stage 3 tranny, Fadinza 8 LB. flywheel, Exedy stage 2 tripple puck thick ceramic cluch, 08 from the tank to filter, -6 to rail from filter, Aeromotive FPR 1:1 riseing rate, Crower Stage 4's. All of that and I don't know what I want to do next. |
