Ok so as some of you know I picked up a 95 GST last Saturday... It had a blown t-25. Well I pulled that off and replaced it with another t-2small. Well I went to start her up and she ran fine I just had an oil leak from the return line and a vac leak. Well I replaced all of the vac lines and I still have a small vac leak so she idles around 2.1k to 2.4k. But he is my new problem... I wanted to take her around the block a few days ago (first time driving it.) So I know the car has sat since 06 (started up once or twice but never moved) so I let her sit at idle for a good 10 mins and before i left there was a little bit of smoke coming from the exhaust (blue-ish white..) I didn't think much of it so I took her for a spin around the block and she drove fine no noises over all she ran almost perfect until I looked out my rear view... There was a huge cloud of smoke... So I went home and parked her and popped the hood and as expected there was a nice cloud of smoke (most was from the oil burning of the return line) But I let her cool down then started her up and no smoke... So I pulled her up and parked her. Well today I went out and started to pull shit apart to try and find the vac leak. Well I found I found some oil...

T-body elbow

upper IC pipe..

Turbo...

Now when I seen this my first thought was the seals are bad on the turbo... But is there any chance that there was left over oil from the last turbo? Because I was told that it was really spiting oil into the intake...

Any help would be nice... I have done some research and can find much... I found one guy on tuners that is having the same problem as me (blown turbo, replaced it, vac leak smoke, pretty much all the same shit) But stupid ass tuners wont let me post for some reason.

Also she does not want to start for shit when she is cold...

Thanks in advance.

I am pretty sure I found my vac leak...

I don't know how I looked over it when I was replacing the lines...

So does anyone know where it goes?

I believe it's your evap canister. However, I'm not sure where it goes.

About the oil. My first guess was that it was residual oil from the previous turbo. However, that last picture in your first post shows oil on your inlet of your new(er) turbo. I doubt the oil came upstream against the compressed air and sat in your inlet. That would lead me to believe turbo seals went bye bye. HOWEVER, now that I am typing this, I realize that your BOV recirculates back into the intake stream. Hmm... Could indeed be the remains from the old turbo. The only way to make sure is to take off all the lines and the intercooler & BOV and clean out all the oil. If the smoke is no longer there, then the new(er) turbo is still ok. If not, then you eliminated the other possibilities

Good luck biggthumpup.gif

Where is your crank case vented to? I see the new hose from your vavle cover in the new engine shots, but I cant see where it goes. Do you have it routed back into the intake pipe as it was stock?

Yeah everything is routed back to the stock locations...

I was told to plug it and see if that would work... It didn't so I am going to get ahold of Dillon (owns a 96 gst auto) and see if he would be willing to let me see where the line goes....

If the crank case vent (From the valve cover) is connected to the intake track as in the stock set-up, you will get oil in all of intake equipment.

Plug off the intake pipe and vent the crank case to a catch can or an open element filter.

How are you guys plugging the nipple on the intake? I can get a breather from my Eclipse but I'd like to do it better than a Walmart back piece over the nipple. smile.gif

Well Dillon let me take his apart today and it's just caped off... The idle is weird on this car... after I caped if off today I started her up and it idled at 1.7k for a good minute or two and then went back up to 2.5k.... Idk... I am guessing I still have a damn leak... But it isn't smoking out of the exhaust anymore! biggrin.gif

Good to hear! I ran SeaFoam through my vacuum lines (PCV) today and boy was it smokey! Now it idles much better and ZERO surging. You may want to try it. I also put .5 pint in the tank and STP fuel system cleaner. smile.gif

You should not be able to idle over 1600 rpms. If it is that high then your minimum throttle screw is turned to far or your temperature sensor is reading to low.

Well I have notice it's eating gas like crazy... Idk if it's because the gas is old or what but when I brought it home I had 1/2 a take and now I only have little over 1/4 a tank and I have only put 1.8 miles on it...

Ok so in Park or Neutral it will idle anywhere from 1.7k to 2.7k but in drive or reverse it will idle at 1k... Also when I just tried to back it up it was at about 1k and then started sputtering and wanting to die...

Ok so now when I start it up it will idle at 2k-2.4k and then in a few seconds it will go down to 1k-1.5k witch is what my old gs would do... but here's the deal it is sputtering and wanting to die... Needless to say I am lost and don't know what to do from here... I tried making a video but my damn batteries are dead and the video went off before the idle went down...

Update:

Ok so I was checking my tranny fluid and notice that the line that goes from the intake to back by the charcoal canister was unhooked so I hooked it back up and now it doesn't sputter and die but the idle is high again...
So
hooked up = idle high
unhooked = good idle speed but sputtering and wanting to die...

Any insight to my problem?

Have you try resetting the idle with the BISS, with the timing plug grounded to reset the ISC? You may have done this, just throwing out options.

With the charcoal canister line unplugged, it would be a vacume leak and that would change the idle.
