This is the year. I will see it in my lifetime. I believe it. The Cub's will end a 100 year drought and win the World Series this year.

I've said for years that they'll do it THE YEAR the curse ends. And here we are!
Good luck from a Cardinal fan. I'm married to a Cubs fan. Maybe, just maybe, if they win, she'll finally wear that Cubs jacket I bought her last time they made the playoffs once again! -------------------- ... she likes bein' forced ...

Unlike Kazz, I'm not affiliated to a Cubs fan at all. Definitely a Cardinals fan!
Go Cards! -------------------- If the sound of a DSM in the distance rowing through the gears gives you a hardon, you might be a car enthusiast.

Nice to see so much love for the Cards on here!
I will probably abstain from rooting for them even when (IF) they reach the World Series. I can't say I will root against them, but I can't bring myself to say go Cubs. I CAN'T. IT'S NOT IN MY THESAURUS. But, it is nice to see the the 3 best records in the NL in the "Comedy" Central. -------------------- -The original (member) 007. Stop looking at me Spy!!

Man, looks like I'm surrounded by Cards fans.
To be honest I'd rather see the Cards win the Wild Card than the Brewers, just because I think we'd have an easier time against the Card's pitching staff. Plus so far we've had an easier time keeping Pujols and Ludwick down than Fielder and Braun. That's all assuming either of these teams make it to the NLCS though. The Cubbies will likely have to face either the Dback's or the Dodgers first. Rather face the Dodgers in a 5-game cuz AZ's Webb and Haren are fantastic. Sorry I'm rambling. Go Cubs!! |

I got your back Nate. I am definitely NOT a Card fan. It's pretty sad they have to extend a curse to try and hold off a poor little team who hasn't won the WS in 100 years. For God sake get a grip!

Well Katie, what you and your 85 year old grandmother have in common is that neither one of you has ever seen the Cubs do anything big. More importantly, if history is any indicator, you likely never will And just because the Cards are a consistent performer doesn't mean one should not be a fan... There are not many "bandwagon" Cards fans out there. I've been a Cardinals fan since I was assigned that opinion at birth, and this year is no different than any other. Same goes for the CUBS. Completely Useless By September. They just may their inherent uselessness off a little longer than usual this year. On the other hand, with the Cards out of comission, I'd love to see the curse ended. I just won't hold my breath. They've got to beat some pretty serious teams to do it. -------------------- 2009 Scion Tc

Moushon, it ain't over til it's over, buddy. We're 3 -1/2 back from Milwaukee. I'm going to hold out hope, still. It's what I do.
I, too, have been a lifelong Cards fan. Living in the St. Louis area, you see why we're good fans. We respect the rivalry with the sCrUBS; we respect baseball history; and we're very knowledgeable. In '06 my roomie had a funny Cubs joke: What do the Cards and Cubs have in common? They both haven't won in their new stadium! He can't even say that anymore -------------------- -The original (member) 007. Stop looking at me Spy!!

Just wanted to give the Cards a big thank you for losing the season series and being there while the Cubbies clinched the division all in one shot. I won a free steak dinner on a bet with a Cards fan, btw.
On to the playoffs we go! |

Wow this is getting mean - I had to chime in.
I was a Cards fan from birth to the time they signed Mark McGwire. I then thought they had completely lost their minds and decided to switch to a Cubs fan because I had that much disgust for the Cardinals. That has now been quite some time ago. Well, we see where McGwire is now-- and it is way more fun being a Cubs fan than a Cardinals fan --- I disagree that there are not a lot of bandwagon Cardinals fans- they are definitely fair weather fans in St. Louis- more so for Rams but it is so funny to watch the apparel and stuff go on discount when they are losing.... Just my two cents worth.... Oh and Wrigley is much better than the new Cards stadium - that place is way too fancy to play baseball in--- -------------------- |

I've been told that when I'm very passionate about things, I won't let up. Well, I'll step back a little on this argument. I'm a much more formidable foe in person, especially on this topic. Having been to my fair share of these games, I have seen the "die hard" Cub fans throw the towel in just as you indicate the Cards fans do, Susan.
I also remember how "Cub fans" all of a sudden appeared during the Bartman year. There were more in the woodwork then compared to any fan base I've ever seen. And that WAS in Peoria (to make it more local). I've been true since a little kid. Never wavering. Live it up. Can't say it won't last. BTW- how did Zambrano do on his last start? About the same as his last Cardinals game? (1.2 IP, 5 ER). Just what you need headin' into the playoffs. -------------------- -The original (member) 007. Stop looking at me Spy!!
