Badass Christian! I switched over some time ago. I now have an 02 GT and a 90 LX notch 5.0 as the DD. Very nice looking California Special Clone!

No. I actually never tested for a boost leak. I had a couple extra turbos laying around so I stole the wastegae off of one of those and swapped it out. So I guess I was just lucky with my first troubleshoot.

QUOTE (DSM5 @ Jul 24 2007, 05:27 AM)
I seem to have a big boost leak somewhere, and its pissing me off.

I've done a test multiple times but im pretty sure my tester isn't seating well on the turbo because I can't really pressurize the system. Also, I have a tank, not a compressor type deal, so I'm getting tired of having to fill it up all the time. Most of you don't know me although I used to post when I had a blue GSX.

If anyone has some free time and would like to help me, I'll drive to your place, it doesn't matter to me. I just really want to get this fixed before MOD so that my car is running nice and good.

Help me out and I'll buy you some beer biggthumpup.gif . (we'll I'll pay for it, I'm only 19, lol)

O and background story on the problem: Can't boost over 5psi, and thats with vacuum line hooked right up to the wastegate. so its either a leak, or the flapper. Most likely a leak.

Thanks. AIM is TwistedDrum5 is anyone wants to talk.

I had the same problem and it ended up being the wastegate was bad. I Dont own a DSM anymore, but if you still need help by the time im done moving ide be more than happy to stop by sometime and see if I can help you out. I live in Pontiac so im relatively close.

He just got an 07, same paint scheme as above. Where are you getting it through... he went to a shop in Galesburg and had the 07 in two weeks, and picked it up about 3 weeks ago now... he suggested to me that you should check around if you want one sooner than august.

I did and there were only 2 left in Illinois. Neither of them were the paint scheme I wanted either. I'm getting mine through chucks in bloomington.

Nice bike Mark! biggthumpup.gif I've been keeping my eye out for a good deal on a Harley as well.

Thanks. I was actually looking at hondas before the Nightster caught my eye. I'm not a die hard harley fan, but I was suprised that the retail of the nightster was under 10K and I fell in love with its looks. Plus it has the V-twin 1200 motor which sounds badass with some slipons IMO. smile.gif

Here are my current projects. They are not DSM's but Ive owned 5 DSM's before these. We'll start with the 02 Mustang GT. When I bought it 9 months ago it was bone stock. So far Ive put MAC pro-chamber midpipe, MAC cat back, 02\03 Cobra hood, grill delete, and stangsuspension stage II springs. In the near future I plan on adding a heavier clutch, a mongoose supercharger kit, intake, a few more free air mods to get that SC breathing correctly, and then a good dyno tune. As far as cosmetics Ive got some 18X9" up front and 18X10.5" in the rear saleen wheels planned and an 02\03 cobra front fascia. Heres some pics and a small video.

This is a small vid. Its nothing special and it was taken in a park (nobody was there) so I couldnt get on it too hard, I simply made it to show people how the exhaust sounded.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5vMqrvq3-Q

And for my daily driver for the time being I have a 90 LX 5.0 notch. Its bone stock aside from a drop in K&N filter and the future plans for it are to sell it and get a truck to drive year round.

I also just bought one of these badboys. I had to order an 08 because all of the 07's were sold, but I pick it up early august.

Yeah. I'm still in the pontiac area. Dan- the laser actaully is a funny story. The girl that I bought it for and I broke up and like a month after I bought it she traded it in on a new car (they gave her $700 for it.) Well apparently it was auctioned to a used car lot where the owner of the Monicals Pizza franchise bought it to toy with. He parked it in fron tof his house and didnt drive it once besides home from the lot. It sat there for a few months and some guy who drove passed on his way to work stopped and asked him if he wanted to sell it. I think the guy told me he bought it for maybe $1000. About a year after I last saw it I was at a get together with some of the old CII guys in Bloomington and up rolls the little red laser. I couldnt believe it. That car was a trooper! biggthumpup.gif

Good luck on the sale.

Plus its a 91. What kind of condition is the body in? Pictures do wonders for selling a car online.

No, as one friend told me... if it aint broke don't fix it.

Or in the case of a DSM, if it aint broke, break it then replace it with a better part. wink.gif

I'm going to have to say good luck with getting what you want from the army (military.) Thats great that you want to be a machinegunner, but just because the recruiter puts it in handwriting, that doenst mean jack. biggrin.gif Not trying to be a dick, but recruiters are not exactly high on the chain of command and it doesnt matter what he says, if somebody above him says you are going to be washing dishes at the mess hall and will never have the chance to even shoot a pistol, then thats whats going to happen. Either way good luck! I would love to join the military as Ive gorwn up in a military family, but I am color blind, flat footed, have back problems, arthritis, and worst of all was born with a heart murmer. I am glad to see that we have young folks that are willing to freely do their duty for the country that we live in. biggthumpup.gif

Sounds like the timing belt tensioner broke. When mine was going out it made a funny noise at low RPM's and the noise went away at higher RPM's. It sounded like an exhaust leak coming from under the hood but it was really the belt flapping around. You probably skipped the timing and bent some valves. Check the pistons and see if they are ok. If they are just try and throw a new head on there. If that doesnt work or you are yielding low compression even after that then I would worry about a rebuild.

wow that kinda sounds like my car. only mine is not that bad. not near that loud. i did a timing belt change a while ago and didnt change the tensioner. is that what you guys think it might be. car still runs the same and it dont make that sound all the time, just ever once in a great while? and i changed my water pump the same time.

Yes. My bet would be on the tensioner. Take the part of the t-belt cover that goes over the top of the camgears off and if you have skinny enough hands reach your hand down and see if you can loosen any slack on the tbelt. It will feel rubber bandy if the tensioner is broken. Oh yeah, for obvious reasons do this while the car is NOT running. LOL!
