Unsolicited, the almost-17 year old wants a '2000 Eclipse with manual transmission and the real tall spoiler in that purple-ish color'.

So, you can see, this one HAS fallen far from the tree.

I know for a FACT he doesn't want the 2000 bodystyle, but the 99 or prior. I don't know about the spoiler, though. I know there was one that was tall, sure, but I don't know which DSM or model(s) it appared on.

Anyway, if you can help me figure out which model(s) had that spoiler, I'd appreciate it. His budget's gonna be around $1000 or just over, I think. He's actually doing pretty well saving. But he's not turned a wrench or really gotten his hands dirty before. So a good running one would be the right ticket - if it can be found in that price range.

For that matter, I'm sure his choice could be swayed for the right car at the right price, too. *Laugh* But if you can help me id the right models I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

I'd don't know if you'd want to go with a DSM that could be sold for a $1000. It would probably have alot of issues. Which would be good for teaching him wrenching but bad if he wants to use it for getting to work.

The purple spoiler is kind of funny.

Just give him the keys to the EVO!

that's a 2g GST, seems like the turbo ones were only ones that came with the big spoiler, but sure I'll be corrected if that's wrong rolleyes.gif

That's a pretty nice ride. Doesn't look as girlie as some of the 2g's sometimes look.

Yeah, 1K's gonna buy broken stuff, I'm sure. The 93-95 Sentra, Tercel, etc. is gonna be more likely for running well.

I thought the taller (SRT-4-like) spoiler came on the GS-T's, as well.

Someone on CSS has a 95 GS - can anyone ID that one's history or anything? They claim it's their daily driver and could use some 'touch-ups'. Of course, they don't include any pics, so that's scary.

I've been looking on Autotrader and Craigslist. I didn't think about eBay - should try it. I'm sure if we find anything in the DSM arena I'll be asking anyone for advice as to what to look for out of that year and model. He's made great progress in saving up. I think this could be a $2K car he's looking for soon.

Thanks!
