Hey folks, I'm interested in coming up for the event but I had a few questions:

Is this open to all sport compact cars or just DSM? (I got a VW)

There are several regular drag racers from St. Louis interested in coming to race, both DSM and otherwise, is there a host hotel?

Is everyone meeting up Sat night for food, drinks or cruise?

Are the consessions gonna be open at the track or should we plan on bringing food?

Thanks in advance!

dave......

Posted by: awd4kicks Jun 19 2006, 04:28 PM

Welcome to DSMCentral and thanks for your interest.

All imports are welcome as well as domestics. biggthumpup.gif

There are plenty of Hotels in Peoria, but that is still about an hour and 40 minutes away from the track. If there is a group that would like to meet up the night before, I'm sure there are a number of people that would be willing to join in. biggthumpup.gif

The concession stand is open most of the day, but you can bring your own food too.

I had a blast today! I've never been to one of your events and the scene, although small, was fun and some of the cars were awesome. It was fun for us until our tranny ate third gear but we had some good runs before we broke. We were gonna get our asses kicked in the Quick class anyway. We did; however, run 100 mph in the 1/8 mile for the first time.

Good event. We'll be back.

I can say its safe to say that not a lot of people are happy with thier cars around the peoria area. I managed to throw my crank pulley off (no where to be found), break the waterpump gear off the housing, and throw the timing belt off the car. I also have no power to the car, so the pulley hit somthing. It is a non-interference motor so nothing internally was hurt, but didn't even get to make 1 pass.

Rizzo-Bad knock coming from lower end

Which is better than I can say for most of the cars that were parked around me.

Many thanks to Marcus for putting on the race and AMS for sponsoring it!!

Marcus, are you going to post up the ladders, times etc?

Looks like AWD DSM 1 and I will have to settle our 14B war another day...I think I won the first battle though... biggrin.gif

Here is the 2006 SCDC Tally and results:

First I want to thank everyone that was able to make the trip to Cordova. AMS and a few of us from DSMCentral and Aura Racing had gotten together the night before for some pre-racing festivities. It was a good time!

We had a total of only 42 racers registered...So there were plenty of runs for everyone!

We had (6) entries into the Street Stock FWD class.
There were (10) entries into the Street Stock AWD/RWD Class.
(4) entered into the Street Modified Class.
Only (2) entered the Street Fab Class.
...And just (2) Entered the Quick 16 Class.

There was a WHOLE LOT of carnage so it cut down on the number of entries.

For the Street Stock FWD Class the winners were:

1st Place - Sean Roberts from Bartonville in his 97 Nissan with a best of 13.310 @ 109mph but won against the second place finisher with a 14.266 @ 106mph. Roberts went home with the #1 trophy, a $200 AMS/Excedy Clutch gift certificate, a $50 Autometer Gift Certificate and a Tial 38mm Waste gate!

2nd Place - Josh Gale from Pekin in his 04 SRT4 that ran a best of 13.691 @ 103mph, but came in 2nd with a 14.682 @ 102mph. Gale went home with the #2 trophy, a $100 AMS/Excedy Clutch gift certificate and Autometer clothing.

3rd place - Went to Jim Morgan from Galesburg in his 05 SRT4 that ran a best of 14.476 @101mph. Morgan had lost to a John Duyvejonch from Moline in a 93 Ford Probe who had run a best of 14.093 @ 101mph, but was disqualified for having a non stock power adder. Morgan went home with the #3 trophy, a $50 AMS/Excedy Clutch gift certificate and Autometer clothing.

Honorable mention goes to Michael Szromba from S. Holland, IL in his 97 Eclipse who ran a best of 14.023 @ 99mph in qualifying and Kristin Compton from Plainfield, IL in her 92 Plymouth Laser that a best of 15.974 @ 94mph in the first round.

For the Street Stock AWD/RWD Class the winners were:

1st Place – Matt Ecleman who arrived just in time from East Moline in his 92 Eagle Talon. His best run of the day was a 12.205 @114mph, but won first place with a 12.231 @ 115mph. Ecleman went home with the #1 trophy, a $200 AMS/Excedy Clutch gift certificate, a $50 Autometer Gift Certificate and a Tial 50mm Blow Off valve!

2nd Place – Lindsay ‘Kazz’ Johnson in his 03 EVO from Peoria IL. Kazz’s best run of the day was a 12.445 @ 111mph but came in second with a 12.493 @ 110 against Ecleman. Kazz went home with the #2 trophy, a $100 AMS/Excedy Clutch gift certificate and Autometer clothing.

3rd Place – Ben Stoner from N. Vernon, IL in his 97 Eclipse with a best of 12.294 @ 115mph, but it was not enough to take Ecleman down in the 2nd to last race. Stoner went home with the #3 trophy and a $50 AMS/Excedy Clutch gift certificate.

Honorable mention goes out to George Bohren from Cedar Rapids, IA who ran a 12.596 @ 112mph in his 90 Eagle Talon during qualifying... Chris Coleman from Sterling, IL who ran a 13.057 @ 109mph in his 94 EVO1 during qualifying... Ian Koe from Deer Park, IL running a 13.677 @ 101mph in the first round of eliminations in his 92 DSM... Joel from Moline, IL qualifying with a 14.191 @ 95mph in his 05 EVO... Frank Barbanente from Schaumburg, IL laid down a 15.530 @ 87mph in his 88 318 BMW in qualifying... and Geoff Burns from Moline, IL went out in the first round with a 13.950 @99mph against Ecleman who won the class.

For the Street Modified Class the winners were:

1st Place – Michael Puglisi from Arlington Heights in his 98 Eclipse who won with a 10.555 @ 137mph. Michael went home with the #1 trophy, a $200 AMS/Excedy Clutch gift certificate and a $50 Autometer Gift Certificate.

Unfortunately Rizzo spun a bearing after running a 12.486 @ 108 during qualifying in his 00 Honda, obviously taking him out of the running.

For the Street Fab class meant to welcome the V8 and specialty car owners the winners were:

1st Place – Our very own Chris Lange from Peoria, IL who ran a best of 13.627 @ 100mph in the final round. Chris took advantage of the fact that this class was pretty much open to anyone and only one V8 entered otherwise. Chris took home the #1 trophy, a $200 AMS/Excedy Clutch gift certificate and a $50 Autometer Gift Certificate.

2nd Place – Our one and only V8 entry was Greg Harmon from Peoria, IL in his 00 Trans Am. Greg’s best run was a 13.538 @ 105mph in the final round, but lost with a .426 reaction time to Lang’s .158. Harmon went home with the #2 trophy, a $100 AMS/Excedy Clutch gift certificate and Autometer clothing.

3rd Place was not awarded due to lack of entrants.

For the infamous Quick 16 class the winner’s were:

1st Place – Albert Raczynski from Michigan won with a 10.145 @ 148mph in his beautiful 95 Eagle Talon that was converted from FWD to AWD over the winter while implementing a GT42R Turbo. Albert took home the Big trophy as well as a $350 AMS/Excedy Clutch gift certificate, a $50 Autometer Gift Certificate.

2nd Place – Yosuf Begil from Glendale Heights, IL in his93 EVO2 ran a best 11.219 @ 123mph in the final round with the engine popping from electrical problems on the big end. Yosuf went home with the #2 trophy, a $150 AMS/Excedy Clutch gift certificate and Autometer clothing.

3rd Place was not awarded due to lack of entrants by unfortunate breakage.

I want to send out a HUGE thanks to AMS for getting prize sponsorship of this event together and bringing out some great high quality cars.

We had some great runs. The fastest run was put down by a hemi-powered pro stock chassis owned/piloted by Mark Kirkman from Kirkman Composites with a crazy 7.9 that was also able to roll a 9 second pass even when getting out of the gas at the 8th mile. As usual our good friend Robin Lawrence showed up to make a number of test & tune 10 second passes. In fact he was a good sport and ran the AMS EVO in a fun run. This was one of the best runs I seen all day! Robin Lawrence’s 05 Mustang took the AMS EVO hard off the line. Robin ran another beautiful 10 second run, but the AMS EVO pulled it out running by Robin right after mid track with a 9 second pass. Very good time!

Thanks to everyone…

Nice event wrap-up Marcus... the hemi-powered pro stock chassis is owned/piloted by Mark Kirkman from Kirkman Composites.

Thanks Ryan I will add that info to the writ-up. Kirkman seemed like a good guy and had a Hell of a car! biggthumpup.gif

My first run of the day was my best one at only 14.7 pounds of boost and 93 octane it ran a 12.1 @ only 113. I was really hoping it would hold together for this event and give me a low 11 second pass on 93 and 17 psi but I spun the #1 rod bearing and now have to make the inevitable decision to rebuild or part out and throw in another motor and sell the car and build something else. If I sell it I will most likely build something either rwd or awd.

I think my best run earlier in the day was a 13.2 but I originaly was only going to spectate and maybe do a few test & tune runs since I just got the car back 3 days before the event after it had been impounded for 9 months. I was running the car in street form with all season radials, all of the power accesorys, and no weight reduction but the biggest problem I was having was reaction times (.426 ugh) and 60's due to my 9 month off season.

Overall it was a good time as usual and I had a great time, cant wait to go back.

you forgot to mention that i got the award for most persistent with my 10 hour trip to the track just to make one run of 19.1@62 MPH biggthumpup.gif

93 Ford Probe who had run a best of 14.093 @ 101mph, but was disqualified for having a non stock power adder.

I was hoping that you would do that. I don't have anything against the guy or anything but that Probe was far from stock.

Anyone have any pictures/vids from the event?

It was indeed a blast, and I would like to thank all those here at DSM central who put the event together.... The prizes and trophies were also wonderful. I really appreciate the friendly atmosphere, and people I encountered while at the track.

Despite the low entries, I still managed a best MPH for myself, and given that I was on crappy street tires, I am hoping to see some mid 9 second passes pretty soon here, once I get the slicks on the car.

To all who I met at the track that day, it was nice to meet you, and I hope to see you all out at any future events.

We took a ton of video all day. 99Spyder has already posted up his video in our Gallery. There will be more video and photos posted up in the near future.

DSMCentral... i won the street stock but didn't get the autometer gift certificate, should i call ams or do you guys handle that one?

oh and sorry about all the commotion there that day, some of the CR guys don't like the QC guys

Posted by: awd4kicks Jul 5 2006, 05:02 PM

Congratulations on the Street Stock win. Yes, Eric from AMS said that he had accidentally left all the Autometer stuff at their shop and to give him a call to pass your address along. He will get you your Autometer gift certificate mailed out.

BTW - The whole fight issue is rediculous over racing. Just race and have fun. biggthumpup.gif

Posted by: Kazz5 Jul 5 2006, 05:02 PM

When they were handing out envelopes and trophies they were telling folks to call AMS for the Autometer stuff...

... and you ought to hit Pinks with that relationship!

QC = Quad Cities, yes? What's CR?

QC-Quad Cities, CR-Cedar Rapids, yeah it basically just a bunch of yelling. thankx for the info the autometer gift certificate, check out www.qcaaf.com a local shop is helping a few of the street racers to rent out Cordova, i think they want to keep the cars running on the track down to 60 but there's no limit on spectating, its free to just watch and i think 25 to race. check out the forum for more info, it would be great to have some of you guys there.

I believe his name is Adam. He used to work for AMS but then moved on and i believe started his own company. He is from near chicago i know. He broke the exhaust wheel off the turbo. He actually had the car set up N/A and blocked the oil lines when he was smoking everything out. There was just that much oil in the exhaust ohmy.gif
