... for my ad on autotrader.

put some new gauges in the evo today.

VDO boost, oil temp, and oil pressure gauge.

super easy install. the oil temp sensor replaces my drain plug on the pan and there was a plug in the oil pump that was removed so i could put in the sending unit for the oil pressure gauge.

i used the 42 Draft designs pod. it is a CNC machined piece of aluminum that is painted to match the center interior piece.

one of my students is using this software to tune his 3rd gen eclipse. little stuff like rev-limiter, speed limiter, idle and such. but we hooked it up to my WRX and it seemed to be a pretty powerful tool from the 10min is spent looking through it's options. you can log, tune fuel, ignition timing, scale maps for injector size, set the boost though the factory boost solenoid, check knock, and pretty much everything else you can do with an AEM. you can even run your AEM wideband into the computer and record with this software with a few additional plugs. you need to take the blue and white wires and run them into a serial plug and then covert that into USB for most computers.

it is no where near as powerful as the AEM EMS beacuse you are still reflashing your factory ECU and the data points and a little more spaced out. i could adjust my target boost level by i think it was every 20% throttle percentage and every 1500rpms or something like that. and the maps are very similar to that of the AEM with the red and green boxes. the only draw back is that there is no realtime tuning like with the AEM.

but to software is FREE and the cable is like $80.

there is a generic OBDII plug for the WRX and the EVO and 2G and you can buy the 1G plug for i think he was telling me for like $10. i am going to play around with this and if i find anything out i will let you know more.

some of you might already know but on monday i picked up my new DD. it is an 02 WRX with minor modifications. the only thing i am going to keep on it is basically the borla 2.5" cat back and the turbo timer. it has a CAI which is horrible for the WRX and it had an MBC which i removed today. the car was only running .5bar (wastegate pressure) so i pulled it off and hooked it back up to the stock boost solenoid and now i am back up around 14psi. the car is alot of fun.
