Yeah, there you go. I ordered one from a company online, and its over a month late, so i say f' em. And i now need one of these engines asap. I have some money, but the shop where its at is getting really pi$$ed off (its been there 4 months) and they told me i really need to get it out of there. So, if anyone has any ideas, or better yet, has an engine, let me knwo asap. thank you.

its torn up. Timing belt slippd, and now i have MAYBE half the valves left, and most of those are bent, and cylinders 2 and 3 have dents in the top big enough for me to fit the top of my pinky finger in. Looks like some devilish smiley faces.... ph34r.gif So, according to the shop, it wouldn't be economical at all for me to rebuild the engine. After seeing it, i am inclined to agree. Not only that, but who knows what other sh!t was flying around inside there. I want to be able to mod the car (just to maybe 275-300) later, and i certainly DON'T want to have to do this again. So i figured a new engine would be the best way to go. Little did i know it would cause me soooo much trouble and stress. So yeah. Thats why. Do you have any ideas? Does anyone? Let me know if so.

I kind of have to question used engines... who says that they are in any better shape than what you have now? Even low milage motors can have serious problems. I got my rebuild kit from Mach V and have been very happy thus far with it. I got new oem pistons, oil pump and front cover, belts, full gasket set, and a complete bearing set. not bad for $500! Machine work was the kicker... about $650 dropped on that... but there are definately places that are cheaper than where I had my work done. I had the block cleaned, honed, crank polished, and the head completely redone. You might want to give Josh at slopony a call and just have him give you a quote. IMHO, I'd rather spend a little more cash now, and have a motor that I KNOW will last another 100k+. Even a JDM motor can run you upwards of $1200-$1500 pretty easy, and again, no garuntee (at least long term). I would bet that you could get a motor rebuilt for around $900-1000 if you were careful with the money.

Just my .02 others may have a better idea. Six bolts in excellent shape are a rare find these days.

Hope this helps. ph34r.gif

I've got a 6 bolt at Kalina's that's ready to be picked up if you're interested. The machine work is 700 for the head and block.

Man, i wish i would have been a part of this board when my car broke. It would have saved me lots of time and stress. Unfourtunately, i already have made arrangements to pick up an engine from a guy in joliet. But i thank you for the offer. Where do all you people live anyway? Because if its close to me, next time i need work (and i am sure there will be a "next time") i will come to one of you guys. Hell i would rather pay someone who drives one of these cars than some guy who just wants my cash.

Central refers to central IL, mainly the Peoria area, though it also can apply to the center of the DSM world, where the car was assembled, Bloomington, IL.

Cool. I wasn't sure if it meant "central america" which would denote illinois missouri, indiana, etc, or if it was "central illinois". So thats cool. I just wanted to know. Thats good news too, because that means that when i get my car back, hopefully i will be able to get together with some other dsm'ers from the area. cool.gif

Wouldn't central America denote Nicaragua, Ecuador, Belize, and so on. tongue.gif
