It would be truly interesting to see a real-world match-up of this caliber. The power is there on buth ends, and as JBone has pointed out, so is the weight.

With that said, I believe if the Ferrari were to be able to get dialed in and run a decent set of tires, it would be very close. I assume you mean a drag race, by the way.

The thing I would be more concerned with in this is consistency. I believe if you could get the Italian to dead hook, it would lay down extremely tight patterns. The Evo, on the other hand, does not benefit from a nearly foolproof trans set-up. Paddle shifter FTW, especially in a best 3 of 5 hot-lap. Heat soak FTL.

Best single time, 5 attempts with prep time in between? Evo all day.

Correct. the trans is odd in the c5 vettes, using a driveshaft of sorts to transfer power to a rear-mounted tranny.

I said rear-mounted tranny... cool.

Congrats! Hopefully I won't have one for quite a while. smile.gif

Being 16 and all. But seriously, Vicary Day?

I guess that may have come of as cavalier considering the subject matter, but a few months ago when Nate was asked if he would make it out to Vicary Day, his response was that he and his wife were expecting a child around the scheduled date, and that obviously family comes first. I understand that.

However, since the small bundle of Ennisness came to our world when it did, I figured it was worth askin wink.gif The internet is devoid of context, and this is proof of that smile.gif

Now back to our regularly scheduled well wishing!

Congrats! Glad both are well, but she looks a bit pissed off... I'd have mom feed her!

Sooo... you gonna make Vicary day? wink.gif

I believe a T56 is stock in Corvettes. Handling bone stock 400hp is not a bad start, if you ask me.

Different T56's have come in different vehicles for the last 14 years or so... the one in the Viper is reported to be the strongest, but that may be due to it's OE application. Regardless, it should work. They came in 93+ F-bodies, Vettes, Vipers, Cobra R (01?), etc. Strong trans, I wouldn't worry about it as the weak link.

If that's the case, he may be in good shape... there are a lot of fast cars out there running the T56 at huge power levels. But, if he really wants to drop the coin...

Costello... wow... anyway... Why go to the expense of that transplant just to toss a T5 in it? If the car makes any kind of power, as it should, it will fry the t5, built or not. A Viper T56 would be the way to go on that car.

OTOH, I believe Josh still rebuilds/builds, so I'd give him a call. Adam just has to understand that regardless of the job that Josh does, the T5 will fail eventually.

My a2w was a track-only set-up. It was functional on the street, but it lacked a heat exchanger for the sump, which made it heat-soak easily. With that said, the plumbing is simple, and it makes the i/c piping as short as it can possibly be. I can see if I have any old pics of it... just for reference, it sat exactly where the uicp usually does, with the battery relocated for clearance. A street-worthy heat exchanger would be very easy to plumb in.

Propane is similar in application to nitrous, but functionally opposite. Whereas n2o is an oxidizer, thus building power, propane is a high-octane cooling fuel, limiting knock and allowing for more boost with less knock. I had mine set-up on an adjustable Hobb's switch, which activated the propane injection at 20psi. I was able to run a full 30psi with <7 counts of knock at the top of fourth. The original tune is tough to nail down, but the results were worth it.

The combination of a2w i/c and propane on my FWD beat any knock easily... just a thought.

Excellent work! Bottom line is this... if you can pull a 12.37, keep working it. I think people look at a set-up with a preconceived notion that it can only go so fast. Keep it up, you know that car has at least an 11.99 in it wink.gif

I was planning on going to Byron as well, but since I don't have the time to get the gears handled in the '01, I think I may try the Scion's hand at the old auto-x... I think it's got about 1500 miles on it, so I'd say it's nice and broken in...

Weld the internal gate shut, add an externa', turn the boost down 4psi, and spray a 75 shot at it. wink.gif Just my opinion smile.gif

All 7 bolts walk, it was just more prevalent in the 2g cars. Ragardless, a few reputable shops say the 7 bolts are the superior engine once the crankwalk issue is sorted.

OK, I'll defer to the majority on this one. Take'em down! If you take it to Vday, I'll have 2 stangs there that you can try your luck with wink.gif (if I get the other one done... and find a driver) Oh hell, you can have a piece of my 91 AWD as well!

I really need a track day.

All this talk of LS-killing has me pumped.

The car I mentioned is a 92 TSI AWD. Maroon, red, whatever. Same as my buddy's. Has 7 bolt in it though... but 4 bolt rear. Evo III 16G. Been maintained really well. Socketed ECU and Chip burner with the software, wideband O2 sensor... all sorts.

For $1000. Only need another $450 so I can buy it including tax title license...

Not certain where you came across a 7 bolt '92, but I'd be wary.

Haha I will drop it sooner or later... But not much I hate scraping on every little thing...

It has a problem he said it gets a little hotter then it should.. So I am going to have to try and get that fixed and then I am picking up a mbc, logger, and afc... And then it's LS1 killing time    biggthumpup.gif

I hope you're going after stock automatics... I'd still be skurred of the Ellis Juan until you're solidly in the 12s.

I didn't have a problem keeping up with one when my GST was 100% stock... rolleyes.gif

The auto cars with the 2.73 gear are about the slowest of them.

But a t25 auto still should have gotten killed, regardless of boost level.

I'm all for the 4 cylinder performance, but don't base the performance of a type of car on a snapshot developed from 1 experience. I promise you, if you raced a standing 1/4 against 10 stock LS1 cars in your white car, you'd lose 9 times and on the tenth the other guys motor blows up.

Don't roll your eyes at me son wink.gif

I beat down LS1's when I was running mid to low 13's. There are some bad LS1's out there, but don't be afraid to lay the smack-down when you get the chance.

I agree with your statement. However, it seems like 90% of my impromptu fun was had from a roll, and I don't see a mild bolt-on AWD being able to hang with the LSX cars. I'm all for the attempt though!

Launching a near-stock AWD is very easy... 5500 and let out the clutch fast. Don't dump it, but don't slip it too much. Also, don't practice too many times in a row, that 2100 will fry. Always allow it to cool down. My first time launching my '91 I cut a 1.81 60' on stock boost and a stock clutch. But, that's like my 6th AWD DSM...

Funny part, and I could be wrong, but that should be the 88mm turbine. He got rid of the 106mm if I remember correctly.
