Can we get some type of cap on post editing?

I understand the idea of being able to edit posts to correct grammar, spelling, and clarification... to a point. Most forums have a cap that doesn't allow you to edit after ~15minutes though.

There seem to be a rash of magically re-appearing and disappearing posts and threads lately though.

From my standpoint the issue comes to be a damage done, post made, mud-slung, but now it's gone so I don't know what you're talking about.

Specificly I'm not referring to admin deletion or moderating of threads but rather the ability to go back to a post and pull a "ninja poof" ph34r.gif vanish or change the post.

Perhaps done to elicit a reaction, leave the reactive posts in place, and then look innocent.

Regardless it would be nice to have a degree of stability to posts and threads.

-Board Admin Question-

I haven't been on DSMcentral on some time so I'm probably as far behind topics at hand as I am buried under projects at the shop.

But I'm just finding out that there have been some alterations to my account.

It appears that someone is logging in and modifying my account. I am in the process of changing all passwords to prevent hacking in case it is user based.

I would send a simple PM but my concern is that that process may be corrupted as well in the case of my account.

If administration is able to use their IP search and backend powers to help track down and ban the person responsible it would be appreciated.

Given that there are possibly customer PMs and shop information that may be corrupted I am a bit upset.

Somehow with all the rush I forgot to cross-post this to DSMcentral. wacko.gif

Here's the short version:

Pig Roast and Luau this Sunday (5/22) at KOUmotorsports in C/U.
$5 per plate to help cover the costs of the 100+ pound pig and fixin's
(waived if you can bring potluck instead. Please notify in advance by posting)

If sufficient attendance we have stockpiled wood for a bonfire at night as well.
Possibly racing available as well (at a local 'track' of course)

Gates open at 1pm
Pig should be ready by 3pm.
Friends and family welcome.
Airsoft match may be happening on-site
BYOB
C/U Brew Crew will have some homebrewed specialties available though.

After the latest of several sad viewings of Shamou (Spy's 3000GT VR4) for those not in the know) in his coma, I've started hatching a plan. ph34r.gif

Here are my thoughts:

At our core, DSMcentral is car club biggthumpup.gif and we essentially exist to help each other out with our DSMs. Well, we have one of our longest standing members in need here. Shamou's been down for the count and won't be back up without a pretty big effort.

I'm proposing a joint effort from some of our senior members to put 'ol Shamou back on the road.

With my fiance out of town on the week of June 1-10, I'm proposing a project weekend (June 4-5). I'm thinking with an experienced crew and a weekend of all nighters we can transplant the motor and get Shamou streetable again.

Resources that I would like to offer to help make this happen:
Complete shop access for the entirety of the weekend (Fri 5pm- Sun midnight)
Towing/transport of the car and motor to KOU
A weekend of labor and late nights
Accomodation (at my apartment and or the shop) and groceries for those competent and willing to make this happen. Heck, I'll stock the fridge at the shop and grill for everyone.

Who's with me? Nate, Marcus, James, Eric? Any closest 3KGT experts here? Netter, Daryl?

I think this would make a great DSMcentral project/event page to show everyone how we can pull together as a car club! biggthumpup.gif Anyone else think we can pull this off?

Well we've been kicking around a couple of possibilities but I thought it might be worth getting some more tech input.

The plan: Lower the intake charge temp as drasticly as possible using an easy to implement mixture at the strip.

Some considerations:
Mixture temperature
Heat exchange properties (water, alcohol, antifreeze, etc. all exchange heat at a different rate as well as have different specific heats to change their temp by a single degree I believe)
Freezing/boiling point

Brainstorm options:
Ice water
Saltwater icewater bath (lower freezing point)
Antifreeze/ice mixture
Add water wetter (better heat exchange properties)
Dry ice with vented container and antifreeze/alcohol

Those are the basics we've been kicking around. What's the consensus on the 'best' recipe for what to fill the resevoir with at the strip? A basic ice water set-up to achieve that 'Wintercooler' effect? Or something more exotic to supercool the intake charge?
