Dan's thread about memories has brought up what I think can be another good thread.

How did you come to be a member of DSMCentral. Many have some interesting stories, I know. Hell in the early yahoo-group days I used to put home printed business cards with a link to our website on any DSM I seen parked. I also e-mailed a number of members from the now defunct Midwest DSM Club. It was a meager start, but with over 900 members these days it's hard to imagine it started that way.

What's your story?

Mine not a great story....but I'll contribute. Before buying my whore "everyone has driven my car" Talon (I have the Carfax 8 owners!) Darryl (also previous owner)sent me to this board. I was looking for information on DSMs and the support available on the internet.

So between Darryl helping me and the members of this board, I took the plunge, bought the car and have been dumping money ever since! biggrin.gif The support here has saved my ass more than once and I was never called stupid or talked down upon like some of the other boards for making newby questions.

I was given one of those cards by Mr. Boles. I met up with everyone at Monical's (where we eventually went to Avanti's) and I have been hooked ever since... even 900+ miles away!

I can remember visiting the old dsm.org site and going through the links to find websites of Midwest DSM groups. This was the only one listed at the time and I immediately signed up. Many mods / cars later and I'm still here occasionaly lurking. smile.gif

Gross (akamiami) started me on DSMcentral when it was a yahoo group a few months after it was created. He's also responsible for getting me hooked on DSM's. DAMN HIM!!! (shakes fist in the air)

No exciting story here, just another victim of Gross lol. Was working on a talon for a coworker and needed some help, so I ended up here smile.gif

I've always been a fan though, I got a tour of the DSM plant before it opened, as my dad worked for a Chrysler dealership near by. I always liked the Stealths, which got me interested in the Mitsu/Chrysler cars, and after seeing Gross's GSX, I was hooked on the DSM's. One of these days I'll have one in my collection biggrin.gif

I was in at sound of Peoria getting some 2ga wire for the old black galant when I ran into Jbone. He suggested the site. I've made a lot of friends here over the years.

Dan and Kicks spotted me driving my 93 GSX (previously owned by Dan) and they stopped and talked to me a bit about my car and suggested the site.... from that point on... I was hooked.

I was told about the site and given a card by a co-worker a few days after I bought my Talon a few months after the yahoo group was started. I still remember the first night I met anyone from the site, back at the first meeting of the midnight racing club lol. Dan kept asking me if I was a cop. laugh.gif

Sorry about that badbu... There seems to be a history of me reffering folks to bad shops.

You didn't refer me to any shop, I went out on my own and it seemed like a good place to go...

I actually found out about dsmcentral from c2 early on and attended a get together at slo ponys. I think I even won a raffle prize there.

Hmmmm.. how i came upon dsmcentral.com.... well its been about 5 years now. but i had my very first DSM. (after riding in a friends for the first time, i was obsessed!) it was a grey 95 eagle talon tsi AWD. loved it. i never knew to much at first of what they were capable of doing. but anyways my g/f and i were heading up to the sunnyland family video to dropoff/rent some movies. well the guy workin there had noticed my talon. and he gave me a dsmcentral.com card. (that i still have to this day) ever since then dsm's have been a huge part of my life!
