You need some serious tunage Spy. Props to Kazz on the kill, but your GT35R powered 2 liter should have much more under the belt than a white rabbit powered 2 liter. Something is amiss.

Boost for one, nate. I'm peaking 24-25 and he's peaking around 20. I think he's running 272i&e whereas I'm 264i and 272e. From there I'd guess it's tune. He's got the ignition (no big deal), both have aftermarket FMICs - I'd guess my Buschur Deluxe w/piping may have his outperformed just a pinch.

I don't really know squat but it's gotta be boost and tune ... *Shrug*

that 35r pushing 20psi would trump your wr at 24. I'll be a dozen of lester's tastiest glazed that he's got pushing more cfm of air at those levels.

Problem as I see it is spy is way below his best turbo efficiency spot, though primarily it's gotta be that tune. On the meth with a good tune he should be capable of 500whp, and I know that little bitty bunny (wink.gif) can't hang with that kind of spy power.

Spy's ride is fast and smooth at 20psi and 9 degrees of total timing. (key in on the timing) It pulls from every day sports cars that are coming up at a 20mph higher starting acceleration like they are standing still.

That should put into perspective that this White Rabbit in Kazz's EVO will pull fast as soon as the accelerator is placed on the floor where it belongs. That thing is RAW. Loud, obnoxious, and right to the point with the good ol AWD G-force pull that seems to scramble your brain for a second when taking off. This freaking car hauls balls! I only hope that my slightly lighter AWD with a 2.4 and a GT3052 will pull like Kazz's on the tune.

I'm not certain I would want it to pull much harder than that on the street! AWESOME street brawler. absolutely amazing.

Again I will finish this drooling post with the perspective that I have never ridden in Mitsubishi or Talon that pulled as hard as Spy's pulled that first night I rode in it. Wow, what a ferocious pair of EVO's. biggthumpup.gif

Something just doesn't add up here. 720s should be easily enough for 400whp from personal experience. You should also be able to run more timing than 9 degrees(guessing that's 9 at 7000) on 20psi. If you were running more I'd say that makes sense, but 13-15 sounds like a more realistic number. What kind of A/F numbers are you trying to run?

Just to keep fleshing some of this story out - when I was being tuned we discovered some boost creep which we attributed to a tighter WGA. Of course, on the clock with no garage, adjusting the WGA was out of the question so we mixed 2 gallons of 100 octane with 12 gallons of 93.

At time of tune the pull was constant basically til fuel cut and, according to Al, no knock. She was tuned in 3rd gear giving immediate spike to 21 with quick creep to 25. I've kept her on a steady diet of 100/93 mix (up to 50/50) since and bumped the MBC so the quick peek is closer to 23. Thank God she's not my daily driver anymore; fuel's expensive - heh.

All I can attribute the no-knock at those levels to is the huge FMIC and piping, a bit of octane, and the WR. She's due for lubricants, plugs, and COP as well as a boost leak test one of these days I have time.

Her biggest problem is tranny and there are some nasty quirks right now. I'm trying to source BG's Synchroshift 2 (at a reasonable price - less than $20 per quart!) for the interim with a trip to TRE or Shepards in the future. Road course will piss me off in that thing the way she is now. It may kick my ass on the strip but we'll see. Might hafta do an LSD while she's in since miami's done it ... =)

Driveability's a bit of a problem at part-throttle and some lift. The Buschur Deluxe FMIC comes with a turbo outlet pipe with no nipple for the MBC (boost solenoid) connection. Didn't realize it at the time I put it all together so I had to get the boost from the manifold - MBC and BOV basically right next to each other. I understand that could be part of the problem. I need that weekend to drop that pipe, drill, and tap to help that problem. Otherwise, Al says he as tweaked the idle end of the tune (?) and I could send in the ECU :eyeroll:

The damn thing can scare the crap out of me at times. And those all-seasons are a huge joke. Gonna hafta try some of that newfangled rubber on this spring.

spy, awd4kicks - thanks for the props. I'm glad she impresses.

I fully expect that sasquatch to flatten my ass so I'm enjoying glowing a bit for now... dammit nate, keep that yellow beast and come out and play!!!

What's better about the BG Synchroshift than the GM Synchromesh? Synchromesh is considerably cheaper (about $5 a quart) but I haven't had any experience with the BG stuff so I can't say if it's worth it or not. It seems hard to believe that you would need a transmission build already.

I've tried both and GM or Penzoil Synchromesh seem to work much better for my particular application than BG Synchroshift. But then I've never heard of BG #2 that I know of.

My little yellow one wouldn't be able to hang with you's guys's beasts in my near stock form. Now wait for the Talon and its new toys this Spring and we'll see what happens, in the straight line anyway. wink.gif

From what I understand, the BG product lasts longer without breaking down. Alot of buzz says the GM/Pennzoil products need to be changed every 15K. The BG Synchroshift 2 has some added lubricity as well as a bit more wear resistance. I just thought I'd give it a try.

And we'll let ya come out and play, Nate, no problem.

We do have to get miami down here tho...

I had all I wanted of Spy's ride last summer. Curves or no curves, it sounds like we've got a couple very serious evo's to be wary of this summer. Nice job guys...
