My son picked up a 95 3000GT with a 5 speed a couple of months ago. It's just the base model. It only has 111K on it and is in really good shape. However, now he says the clutch is slipping. He's been looking at them on the internet and pretty much has it narrowed down to an ACT or a Spec. I don't plan on doing it myself but was wondering what everyone suggests for the brand.

I've used ACT 2600 on my Talon. I just had to but a new pressure plate this year. The previous one last 4 years and hundreds of passes down the strip.

DO NOT use the TOB that come in the kit. Buy OEM, there cheap and work better.

Don't forget to have the flywheel resurfaced and stepped. At least I think the 3000 has the same step height set up as the Talons....

Just for grins here is a price comparison for what I could of obtained.
Price comparison for what I could of bought, and Id like Marcus to chime in on spec clutches too:

Exedy oem clutch : List $287.62 DSMcentral price : $205 +sales tax

If planned to mod it with a substantial increase in hp,

Exedy ceramatellaic List of $840.00 DSMcentral price of $550 +sales tax

Or the cheapest option is a aftermarket sachs list price $247.53, DSMcentral price 190+ sales tax

Realizing that neither of these options were requested, I still thought it would be interesting to see a spread of where my prices all vs what else is out there.

What did you end up getting?

i was really pleased with my last spec clutch, and they are always advancing there technologies over the other companies that have been out there for a long time and built a reputation. ACT is a good brand dont get me wrong but a few of us have been using spec clutches and are really pleased. I also know that the SBR clutches (slowboyraing) are decent as well and they are the ACT clutches just modified by SBR.

good luck with the install...

He wanted to go with the ACT clutch so that's what we ordered.
