We are not including motorcycles or other non-DSM's.
Send me time slips biatches!

Posted by: awd4kicks Dec 22 2004, 07:49 AM

I want this to be our local area records not necessarily the current arsenal.
I can note which cars are not currently in commission though.

Posted by: Kazz5 Dec 22 2004, 11:02 PM

OK, of my 31 runs on 6/13/04 I had 4 @ 13.5 the quickest is:

1:46pm

13.514 @ 101.81

For the record:

R/T .599
60' 1.884
330 5.557
1/8 8.64
MPH 81.61
1000 11.284
1/4 13.514
MPH 101.81

If ya don't believe me, tell me, I'll scan it and post it - I'm lazy right now... I'm goin' for 12s this coming spring/summer!

Posted by: awd4kicks Jan 24 2005, 10:19 PM

Anyone else want their times posted?

Posted by: awdnot2 Jan 24 2005, 10:25 PM

Susan ran 13.16@105 in the 3000 GT VR4

Posted by: awdnot2 Jan 25 2005, 09:14 AM

Ummm....

11.49@119.7 Our old red 91 GSX

Posted by: awd4kicks Jan 25 2005, 12:02 PM

Tell me if this doesn't make sense.

Although I don't mind posting old times, I do only want to post one time per vehicle. So if a vehicle makes a faster time, the old time will be replaced. Or if the car is sold to someone else and their best ET is better or worse, then that time will be posted in place of the old owners number.

So in this case Spy's ET would have replaced awdnot2's 11.49, while xians time will soon replace spy's 12.8's because these will all be done with the same car (More or less).

So this is in a way an available arsenal of ET's accomplished, but only with the most recent owner/mod level.

I half agree, half disagree. In the example of Spy and Xian I think Spy's time should still be left up there, because he should get some credit for building/tuning the car to where it sits. No offense meant to anyone here, but (strictly hypothetical) say Xian sells the car to a kid in California right after running an initial run of 12.7 with the same mods and tune. Erase Spy's time and a year down the road nobody remembers how the car got where its at and who got it there. Now on the other hand, if Xian changes a some parts/tuning on the car and runs better, that may be a different situation.

I just know that if say, I sold my car to Kicks and he ran a better time with it in the same build/tune (which he undoubtedly would), I might be a little miffed if I didn't get any official credit for building/tuning the car to where its at. Whether that would be justified or not may be a matter of personal opinion. A little bit of give and take I guess. What do you think?

I agree with both. If I bought a car, tuned it, and ran a better time than the previous owner, I would want credit for the time. Flip side, if I get my FWD to the 11s, I would be madly upset if my time was washed by a new owner. I think at that point an "originally built by" credit would be in order. Now, if someone bought my shell and put an engine, turbo, etc, in it, he would have built it, thereby negating any credit to me.

Posted by: xian 1g Jan 26 2005, 09:56 AM

nate, i think you also missed the better or worse time part. which might incite you a little bit more.

that would mean if i granny shifted down the track and got 15.3, that would replace spy's 12.8.

i'm impartial either way. and do agree that it's proper to give props to spy and rob for bulding and tuning the car.

Posted by: awd4kicks Jan 26 2005, 07:53 PM

Makes sense Nate. I've added awdnot2gsx's and changed spyonyou2007's posted ET's with this in mind. This should open up the door for many more ET's to be posted for anyone wanting to relish a particular performance level you achieved with any DSM you have owned.

It should still be expected that any improved time in the same car with the same owner will replace any older/slower time.

I'll post mine as soon as I get it to the track...

Hey Darryl, what did Susan run in my car when she had it?

Susan ran a 14.1@96 in the 92 AWD Tsi with the 14b you now own.

Actually she ran that while Jim owned it.

Posted by: awdnot2 Jan 27 2005, 08:29 AM

Don't worry, you could walk down the track faster than I ran the black Talon. I had all kinds of problems that day. The car didn't have problems, just me.

I am rather spoiled with the VR4.

Nice new number for the Yellow EVO Natedogg! It's amazing how close in performance your EVO is with Darryl & Susan's 3000GT.

Plus it always blows me away how much quicker AWD makes a car with a given HP no matter how many times I look at the differences in mph between AWD and two wheel drive. (ie. #11, #12, #13 & #14 on our list...wow!)

Keep up the good work!

Wow, them are big words. blink.gif laugh.gif

I think these guys laying down enough power for 11's have found the perfect tune and traction are elusive. Much more so than on the lesser powered cars. We all know that there are many more variables as the power increases with more mods, but living it is a whole different story.

Ron Kaser who has an 8 second big blockVega put it in perspective for me a while back. Ron ernestly congratulated be on getting into the 12's and said that very few people know how hard it is to make a car run time's like 12's. I'm sure he was being nice, but considering where he's at and that he also has a 12 second Yenko Nova clone really put these things in perspective.

What a class-act. Seriously, with all the talk of monster turbo's, astronomical HP, and low ET's I think all of us could use a good reminder of how hard it is to make any car fast. Bottom line is if you're dropping time off your 1/4 mile sprint, it takes a lot of effort, dedication and attention to detail. Particularly so for the guys with mods that make their car more potent on the street and don't just make sacrifices to hit great times at the track like huge-lag, super agressive cams, a volatile tune, etc... Getting a 3000+ lb. metal slug to rocket down a straight line in less time than it takes to finish a good watering of the basin isn't all that easy for anybody.

I just noticed...
Rob's got my motor in his car and still can't run my time! I'm still a 100th of a second faster! Gig gig gig gigggity!!! Just playin Rob, you saw how stripped down the interior was on that thing. Basically I was the same way, untuned on 18psi (overrunning the flapper door to get there). Believe me, I only made 5 runs that day and that thing definitely has more left in it. Good luck!

Stock size lines running a 190 walbro and Lucas 550's

Posted by: awd4kicks Sep 7 2006, 04:04 PM

DUDE! I'm still STOKED about that run!

My three runs were on straight 112 octane through stock fuel injectors and lines, burning the 14b up at 24psi running about 4 counts of knock in 4th gear.

You had 4psi lower boost... which is actually near the max with a good fuel system
You had lower octane fuel with similar knock figures
You ran down the 1/4 mile seven one-hundredths quicker than me not counting the 60ft.
and you had 2MPH on my speed

That is definitely a faster car than my set-up and I know you have got a couple more tenths you can take out of that run!

I'm really itching to get my crank back in and lay down some runs before the year is over. Thanks for stoking the fire Chris. biggthumpup.gif

Some of the cars I'm leaving bold even though I know there are changes in progress because the car is still owned by the same member. When that member gets a new personal best or sells the car then those lines will be updated as well.

I just updated the ET list. Not because there is a new local record or personal best, but because I had to change more cars to sold.

I know straight line drag racing isn't everybody's thing. Even so, I'm suprised that with over 850 members we have only 30 people that have ever posted a best quarter mile time. Now 16 of the 30 are either old or sold. huh.gif

Durring this winter break I hope all those that have tried so hard with nothing more than broken parts to show for it, will be able to rekindle the need-for-speed and get the fire going under their DSM projects. So we can make a good solid list of running DSM's in the 12 to 14 second range next year! biggthumpup.gif

this will actually be the first season that i will be drag racing in. My gsx will be done in the next few weeks and my personal goal is to try and get her in the low 13's. With my setup I should have no problem. I am also aiming towards whooping on my buddies 03 cobra. smile.gif I know he will be a tough challenge but he only runs 13.4 and he's not awd. Good luck on the rebirth!

It was a 1.840 60' actually, altho the next couple runs were all in the 1.7 60' range...I launch off a 5000rpm 2-step (studderbox)

The problem came with the 1-2 shift, with a slipping clutch and old trans fluid, this became quite a challenge....

Im guessing it could've easily been a 12.5 run, all of which on the original, mitsu clutch!

With the Spec clutch in, and my much smoother tune, I think the car would've been a consistent mid 12 car....Hopefully when I get the new project rolling, I can achieve the same feats, hopefully this time with a 4bolt lsd and a proper clutch

This is my first time racing the Evo and the first time at the track in almost 5 years!

1/8---8.345
MPH---84.31

This was actually my best time, but i think i actually braked a split second before the 1/4 mile officially ended!

R/T---2.205
60'---2.078
330---5.571
1/8---8.480
MPH---85.17
1000--11.019
1/4---13.163
MPH---103.53

R/T---0.488
60'---2.123
330---5.633
1/8---8.578
MPH---83.43
1000--11.149
1/4---13.297
MPH---104.93

I was really hoping for a 12 second pass, but i guess there's always next time. I ran it exactly like i run it on the street (93 octane, spare tire, everything in the car)

I'll scan the slips, i'm going out of town in the morning so it might be a week or so before i do it.

List your car in the garage so I can post your time up on the official Times list.

Damn Kapoosh, good job! You must have had a great launch. What was your 60ft?

Posted by: kapoosh Sep 7 2009, 08:37 AM

Here's the breakdown.

r/t 1.770
60' 1.612
330 4.831
1/8 7.523
mph 90.50
1000 9.834
1/4 11.764
mph 116.99

The car should be trapping closer to 120, but i'm happy for now! Didn't even really expect 11's as I left the heavy 18" wheels on. I have video's i'll post soon!
