Where were the first gens engines made? How about the second gens? Who owns Diamond Star Motors? Who owned Mitsubishi during the early 90s?

I work auto parts now, and a customer called wanting an engine for an awd talon turbo. All I had at the wharehouse said they were for front wheel turbo only. What's the difference? And will the exhaust not bolt to the long block on a naturally aspirated one, or is there other differences?

Anyplace that I have had to sign a waiver I have had problems with. Simple poopy, too. Like tire rotation. How do you screw something up? A chimp could do it. A lot of rotary rebuilders offer limited warranties on their engines. I won't go to a shop to have my engine rebuilt without some garuantee on their work. If they don't offer that, then they don't have confidence in their abilities, and therefore, neither do I.

If it's still there during the later half of December, I want it.

It would be so cool to put one of those stickers on my RX-7 to show my support for this site. Wait a second.......
Just kidding. Good idea, but unless they're sponsoring me or I own the company, no stickers will ever mar my car.

QUOTE (akamiami @ Nov 15 2004, 08:03 AM)
OT but this thread is dumb as hell anyways and I don't think anyone cares.

Larz, did you see the last Initial D episode (s4e8) with the two FD's racing? ooooh, I was all hot and bothered and I don't even own a 7. I'd do that lady with the black 7 in her cartoon baloon knot in a hury fo sho.

I'm waiting for it to come in the mail on DVD. It's about time the RX-7 gets some time on that show. I'm getting sick of looking at that Corrolla. You see the 7 line up at the end of a couple of the episodes, but the next one comes on and skips over the race! I think Takumi's character is about spent. Time to move the focus on to someone else.

QUOTE (AWD DSM 1 @ Nov 8 2004, 07:27 AM)
Anybody that overpays for something on E-bay had it coming anyway... how stupid do you have to be to pay $3000 too much for a car? If they're smart enough to find E-bay, wouldn't you think they'd be smart enough to find Kelly Blue Book and NADA too? If you don't want to pay that much, DON'T BID!! rolleyes.gif

Exactly. I tried looking for an RX-7 on e-bay while I was hunting for one. All of them were about 5k over blue book. I wasn't that desperate (or rich enough) to overpay.

Until they reach 20 years old, they aren't a classic. So in my thinking, not old school.

They probably gave up their right to remain silent, and talked when they shouldn't have.

That is one of the best ideas I've heard in a long time. In the land of 92 octane (Pekin), that would be some valuable info.

A guy at work is having problems with his Dodge Caravan. He'll come out to it after running into a store, and it won't start. No clicking, but everything else electrical works. He'll wait 45 minutes and it will start. The van had it's starter replaced a year ago. It's got 80K miles on it. It's a 98. Anyone know of anything that goes bad on those things chronically? I had something similar happen when my ignition control module on my 626 was going out. But that was at 200K miles. But then again, this is a domestic. It told the guy to pull his starter and get it tested. Any other ideas?

I think it was good for it's entertainment value. Nothing like being involved in a soap opera when you're bored at work.

One of my buds was getting black smoke from bad piston rings. He had just rebuilt his heads, too.

Oil pressure sensor went bad on my FD, and she started eating oil like candy. Couldn't see there was a leak until it got really fried. Just a thought.

An electronic boost controller helped some with boost creep on my buddy's 93 FD.

What was your bud running?

Is an external waste gate another workable solution for DSMs? Or is it pretty worthless? I don't know about you guys, but pulling the snails out just to port a wastegate is a pita.

Whoa! Hey, just asking how DSMs do it and what your problems are. Thanks for all the replies, though.

Any of you just try electronic control, like a boost controller? I'm considering doing that with my 7 to prevent the creep and spike.

Do DSMs get boost creep after opening up the exhaust? I know it's a constant issue with rotaries. How do you guys control it if it happens?

It always seems that when you're the most prepared nothing happens. Gald to hear it's not giving you any more grief.

I've been going to BP in Maryland. There is some additive in the gas in the DC area that makes it burn cleaner. however, it makes your car run worse.
