as some of you remember, i once owned a few dsms. the other day a freind of mine purchased what seemed to me, one of the nicest GSX's id ever encountered. it is a beautiful '91 black GSX, w/ 78k on the clock, 5 spd, obviously kept in wonderful condition, the interior and exterior both are in immaculate condition. it is completely stock except for some nice 17" wheels. this thing is amazing looking. and he let me drive it for a while. and it brought back all the good memories of my previous DSMs. just thought id share my experience. btw, he got the car for $4000.

um well im not sure, i know for a fact how much ive put into it, but you never get out what you put in, i will not go lower than $7500. it kills me to sell it for that much but i guess i would if i had too.

and that turbo, are you gonna use it, cuz the original owner wanted to know if he could get it back.

i havent been here in a while, but i might as well see if anybody is interested.

this car is my baby. its a black pearl '91 Nissan 300zx T-tops, 2 seater. 5 speed n/a. 76k.
mods include: custom rear speakers, custom white interior, Nismo pedals (not just covers), pioneer head unit ported/polished heads, ported intake manifolds, bored throttle bodies, Nismo cams, Nismo valve springs, HKS/K&N intake system, custom catback exhaust, Nismo short shift kit, nismo clutch and flywheel, Nismo springs, VERY rare '99 JDM rear wing, nismo thermostat, front adj. upper control arms, and finally rear stb.
new things include, rebuilt heads,(the previous owner did not get the mandatory 60k maintenence done and the t belt slipped on me and screwed up the heads bad) so new head gaskets plus all new misc. gaskets, new valves, new timing belt, new battery, new ceramic brake pads. body is in prett good condition, average road wear for its age. has been stored winters, synthetic oil changed every 3k miles. only 93 octane used. the car runs and performs beautifully, a true drivers car. car has NEVER been abused, always driven respectfully, and is capable of 25mpg. options include leather seats, pwr drivers seat, windows and locks (alpine security system) rear LSD, new rear tires. everything on the car works perfectly rite down to the auto climate control.
im attempting to sell because i have wanted a wrx forever and i drove an STi today and im hooked.
im asking 9000obo. thats just my starting price, seriously make me an offer and ill see what i can do. im pretty willing to negotiate. the only pics i have can be found here: myZ32 thanks a lot, my email, should you wish to use it is wrxukv@yahoo.com

i just thought id run this by all of you dsm guys. if any of you know where i can get a vg30dett please let me know. the motor in the Z is toast and i think it would be cheaper for me to buy a new motor than to rebuild this one. so if any of you run across one of these motors please let me know. thanks.

thats the only thing i put in my car. i tried the middle grade once to try and "ween" it off the 2.00/gal 93, but the Z gets pissy and runs like crap w/o it.

from what i can tell (im not sure about ANYTHING to do with all this timing belt stuff,im working with a freind who knows how to do a lot of it) only the back side of the teeth are gone, like the side of the belt facing the engine is only where the teeth are missing, again, i dont know what this means. w/o looking, id say maybe 15 or so teeth here and there are like this.

well the Z is torn apart right now, we currently have pulled out the radiator, rad. shroud, cam gear covers, throttle cable cover, radiator hoses, thermostat something or other, and about a million different size bolts. all thats left to take off now is all the serpentine belts and then the gears for them. the timing belt in fact is not broken at all, but is missing a bunch of teeth on it. i dunno what this means, but hopefully is didnt break anything else. im praying my engine is ok.

i hope this engine is not toast for a bunch of reasons, one being that there is so much done to this engine that i would hate to have to get rid of it. be that as it may, if im going to get a new engine, you can bet its gonna be a vg30dett. ive found them complete w/ harness and everything for $1500. granted this is my LAST RESORT, i dont want to have to pull the motor out.

the car was towed to my house today sometime while i was at work. but the idiots who towed it locked the keys in the car, and only the dealer can cut a new key off the original "Z" keys so i dont have a backup yet (yes im an idiot). plus they charged me for towing twice because i already paid for the first time. PLEASE, FOR ANYBODY"S SAKE, NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO KNEIPS IN MORTON EVER, THEY ARE MORONS.

tomorrow the new belt should be here and we will hopefully have it on by the end of the day. so thats where we stand now.

it is a broken timing belt. the shop said they are not even going to mess w/ it but want me to pay for towing to wherever i want it towed too. so i ordered a timing belt from advanced auto and it will be here tomorrow, the Z will be towed to my house tomorrow also. a friend of mine and i are going to do this in my garage. im pretty confident that this shouldnt be that big of a problem, but if anybody has experience with this, i would greatly appreciate any help, i am willing to pay. i just dont want to end up w/ a $2000 bill from some shop. if anybody is interested let me know. thanks.

ok so heres the deal, while driving back from ISU, i got off 55 onto queenwood and pushed the clutch in to stop. well the Z died there and wouldnt start back up. i tried jumpstarting it twice and it did nothing but tick. so i rolled on down the hill and tried to pop the clutch, still nothing. so i had the car towed to a shop here in town, knieps, and are having them check it out. all the interior/exterior lights and stereo and stuff work so im guessing its not the battery. when you turn the key, it just ticks and doesnt turn all the way over. im having a pretty good feeling this is a bad fuel pump problem. have any of you had this problem? if this is indeed a fuel pump problem, i would like to buy a fuel pump for cheap. if i end up having the shop do it, it will take 2 weeks and cost me like $600 and i dont want to do that (again). so if anybody has a fuel pump laying around that will fit a '91 300zx, let me know. thanks.

but is the MR even in production yet? i think ive read about it and it is truly badass. trust me, these two vehicles are the cars i would choose over any ferrari or anything like that. but i would still take the STi.
personally i hate the USDM taillights on the evo's. but i have to admit, ive seriously looked into both, and they are really close.
for me, the fact that the evo has what, a 13 gallon gas tank, and clear tail lights and all that performance, i would be fillin up every day.
this is not me bashn the evo, id kill for one, but my heart is in the STi.

but what is that new evo that has no wing, no radio, no ac, etc.... they are really cheap.

well the USDM STi has the ej25det, a 2.5 litre w/ 300hp (claimed). the same model in Japan is still the famed ej20det, 2.0 flat four turbo making somewhere around 270 hp. im assuming that link and stats are for the JDM version because nobody around here measures power in ps.
i would still take the STi though biggrin.gif

well im back from my vacation. we traveled through IN, OH, TN, KN, and ended up in Mt. Rogers, virginia. the driving was fun for the most part. i had never experienced roads as windy and twisty. my mom's passat, while being a fine automobile, was not made for roads such as these. these were the twistiest mountain roads in the east, made for drivers who just enjoy a spirited drive and made for cars built with handling in mind. i think that these roads would be a drifters paradise. anyway, the only exciting things driving around on them were a couple CBR's and a nice turbo FC.
the trip on the other hand was great too. while in Gatlinburg, TN, i had the chance to visit two unique museums. the first of which was a classic muscle car museum. this place had every classic muscle car you could ever imagine. everything rangine from mint shelby gt500s, to a classic GTO, to a '62 vette (all orignial, no miles whatsoever) it even had the original car from the classic movie "Vanishing Point" still with the dirt and dust from the movie set.
the second museum was called "Star Cars" and it had various famous cars from famous movies. these cars were not take offs or anything, they were the real cars from the real sets. parked outside and in the foyer of the building were the late '60s camaro from charlie's angels, one of the red MINI's from the Italian Job, and the number 4 of 6 eclipse from F&F and the number 3 skyline gtr r34 from 2F2F. just getting to see this car was worth the price of admission. it did have all that ricey body kit and paint job, but it also had a full roll cage, 3 carbon nitrous bottles, a single Nismo seat w/ full racing harness. it also had a nice fmic, Nismo stb, and exhaust, but other than that, appeared to be stock. but still it was the only skyline ive ever seen. amoung the other cars in the museum were one of the "elenors" from gone in 60 seconds, the back 2 the future delorean, and of course, one of the many general lees(in fact, i was in Hazard cnty about 6 hours ago.)

anyway, sorry such a long post, but i just thought i would share my trip. i have pictures of both museums, some of which are on a digital camera and some of which are not, so i will probably have to send these pics to one of you so you can post them up for everyone to see.

z you say? hmm. what kind? anyway, GN's or turbo regals or whatever they are are fairly hard to come by i would imagine. there used to be two in the morton area that i knew of. other than that i cant think of any for sale.
