pardon me for not reading the entire thread, but is this truck Red? I remember going at it a while back with a red chevy that had "so sweet, cant be beat on the back window", it was fullsize single cab. This was right after i had gotten the turbo upgrade, and everything was still way out of tune, but we messed around a bit on neil. Once the turbo got spooling I caught up with him, but down low my car just couldnt muster anything up. It was surprisingly fast, but by no means was my car a "fast" dsm, especially in those days.

Just thought i'd post for once in my life. Cya round boys, Still lookin for a new ride, but in no hurry.

In no real big hurry to find a car, but for the moment, I'd probably be interested in a Bike and a truck. In the long run I want to find an SC300 five speed, I'm sure you can all use your imagination on what my hopes and dreams lead to after that....... twin turbo baby:D

Actually it turned out to just be a tensioner and replacing it and the alternator belt seemed to do the trick, I regret not keeping everyone updated seeing as these conclusions have started to be made.

The total operation only cost me 30 bucks to fix, not such a major problem after all

Well, this is sort of shocking. I havent been on this site for quite some while because of my lack of time spent with my car currently as I am in college.

First things first, I'm not exactly sure which person you are in regards to holding interest in the car, simply because i recieve to many calls a week to remember everyone, but if I am correct, I believe your from michigan and have a high horsepower mustang? If so, I do remember you asking me what maintanence has been preformed on the car since I have owned it. In response to that question I answered a typical Timing belt change along with all the other belts and as of recently the alternator belt snapped and I had it replaced as well. This is the instance you are referring too. As it turns out the belt broke from a tensioner not tightening correctly and it was replaced as well. As far as the noise, I am led to believe that it was caused by tensioner wobbling, but I am still not sure exactly what it was. Needless to say, the instance when i took that movie was the only situation i have ever heard that noise. Even the next morning when i started the car up it did not make the noise. Now, I am particullarly blown away that you were unable to ask me about the situation privately, for i would have simply told you exactly what I have just stated. As far as the valaditiy of my testomony, all of the work done to fix the alternator belt was done by speed-source's Carl Crawford and Travis from KOU was also on the phone with me while I had the car running the next morning, and there certainly were no noises. I'm sure they can both acknowledge this. Since this situation, the car hasnt had any problems. I had let the situation blow over my mind as it was only a thrown belt and not a big deal in my mind. I'm sorry you feel I was trying to scam you in any way, that was in no way my intent, I would like the car to be passed down to someone who will take care of it, in order for that to happen they must know the extent of the car completely. Personally I take total offense to the way you have gone about handling this situation and have no problem with losign your interest in the car, although you did seem to be one of the few that knew what they were talking about. As far as the whole mustang forum thing, I hope you take care of this situation on your own for I feel I have done nothing wrong. I regret the miscommunication and I'm sorry for the harsh attitude's??? I hope you feel it worth your time to work things out in the future, for I am not in this world to make enemies.

Thank you Travis and Spy for your support, I wish I had the time to enjoy the board more often.

No idea what the problem is yet. Kinda stumped, but i assume the antifreeze smell is from the car possibly getting a little overheated since the waterpump was not turning (no belt running it). As far as the ticking noise, no idea. But i am going to replace the alternator belt and see if it was just somehow a fluke. Also, one thing i forgot to mention was when driving the car, once u take it out of gear, it develops a small (500 rpm) idle surge, but once put back in gear, there is no problem.. I'm extremely confused. Also, travis, i was wrong about the crank pulley not moving, so disregard that comment.

So today, im cruisin along, Bam, no power stearing and my battery light flicks on. I lost the alternator belt obviously. But thats not it, I parked the car, and all of a sudden i notice an extremely loud and fast Ticking noise, definitly not your usual lifter tick, coming from the head. I'm going in to evaluation mode right now to figure it out and am seriously stumped. Enless its a lack of oil (which i havent check as it was to dark at the time), i dont know. Also, i noticed when i stepped of the car when i parked it, it smelled a bit like antifreeze, i popped the hood, and sure enough it was a stronger odor. Any ideas fellas?

Hopefully this brief movie helps, or even works for that matter.
Movie of ticking noise

Yeah, im J.D., I'm 19, I got into DSM's about a year ago when I purchased an emaculate 97 GSX. Somehow the car is resiliant to reliability issues (even with a super16g turbo), I've had it for a year now and never had a problem w/ normal dsm driving behaviors and 73k on the screaming 7bolt. I'm heading to U of I in less then a week to major in Finance, possibly transfer to engineering or entripernuial (however its spelled) studies, and still sadly have to ditch the car for college money. I've owned 5 cars including a 92 mr2 and a 92 civic hatch (still torn to peices). I work for a concrete company making 12 an hour and plan on sticking around for the money until college is up.

If your going to do the swap i know the perfect guy to do it... and have you looked into the V6 swaps yet? Lots of torque and the motors are cheaper.

Doesnt sound like that guy on the bike new how to drive it too well, it should be faster then that, a stock f4i runs low 11's. Needless to say, thats pretty impressive keeping with a bike.

I've ran a modified one (exhaust, intake) and its unbelievable how much it pulls, I would have to count the lengths in SEMITRUCK lengths!
