When the wastegate is hooked directly the J-pipe it will only create 5lbs of pressure. Hook it back up to the stock boost controller and see if it helps any as far as that goes.

Make sure to have someone help you with the boost leak checks. While I can't do it myself, I'm sure someone will speak up and say so.

Do you know what the stock boost controller layout looks like?

See I wouldn't mind driving that far, the problem is, when I got there we'd have to chill for a while and let it cool down...you know how hot these girls get.

I seem to have a big boost leak somewhere, and its pissing me off.

I've done a test multiple times but im pretty sure my tester isn't seating well on the turbo because I can't really pressurize the system.  Also, I have a tank, not a compressor type deal, so I'm getting tired of having to fill it up all the time.  Most of you don't know me although I used to post when I had a blue GSX.

If anyone has some free time and would like to help me, I'll drive to your place, it doesn't matter to me.  I just really want to get this fixed before MOD so that my car is running nice and good.

Help me out and I'll buy you some beer biggthumpup.gif .  (we'll I'll pay for it, I'm only 19, lol)

O and background story on the problem:  Can't boost over 5psi, and thats with vacuum line hooked right up to the wastegate.  so its either a leak, or the flapper.  Most likely a leak.

Thanks.  AIM is TwistedDrum5 is anyone wants to talk.

I had the same problem and it ended up being the wastegate was bad. I Dont own a DSM anymore, but if you still need help by the time im done moving ide be more than happy to stop by sometime and see if I can help you out. I live in Pontiac so im relatively close.

Still got your boost leak tester lying around? lol, thats really the part I need.

How could I test to see if the wastegate is bad? How did you know it was the wastegate?

A blue 93 is interesting, I miss my Blue 92.... The 7bolt thing sucks, but Im still interested...

Shoot me a ballpark price via pm and Ill see what I can do.

Lol, I wouldn't mind having a DSM, but the gas kills me, and so do the insurance payments...although a GVR4 would be a sedan so it might not be as much, hmmm...nah I can't.

If I can't find any interesting trades, ill shoot a price on here.

trade for a civic hatch with d16z6 swap and possibly cash?

Hows the car run, etc? Any problems? Manual? Are those SOHC or DOHC?

Pics?

runs great, needs a new trans because it pops out of 2nd, I can provide the new trans installed or unistalled. 2 tires are bald, but I have brand new oem rims and tires in my garage for it. Might need an axle, I can fix that too. Hopefully the tires will fix the alignment issue, if not, that can be handled as well. Motor is a SOHC VTEC 1.6 liter.

Overall, the car runs great and is a fantastic DD. Has got me back and forth from work for the last few months without a flaw. Any minor issues could easily be dealt with by me or by the buyer at time of purchase. Overall, I would say it is a fairly solid, quick little Civic (motor swap plus I-H-E makes for better than stock) plus it has a rare leather interior.

What were your plans with my GSX (just wondering)?

What mods does it have? Miles?

I'm very interested in this, where are you located?

I have NG-drill tomorrow from 8-4ish, but I'll try to catch you on AIM some time.

Well, I've finally figured out that as a 16 year old, I can't really have a super fast car. To much money for insurance, repairs, and gas. I drive a lot more than I used to and I'm starting to see it in the gas im using. I'm actually doubling my driving for the week, making it difficult when gas prices go as high as 3.50 for 93 Octane(thank goodness it went back down)

Car:

1993 Eclipse GSX
~The bad~
-Two rust spots (both in the rear fender, one side is worse than the other but they both can be repaired)
-Exhaust leaks (super easy fix, but I just don't have the time or resources)
-Pwr antenna doesn't work (stuck up)
-Weathering strip on door comming off (another easy fix)
-ABS disabled. The hydraulic pump went out, and it cost to much to fix
-Clutch will need to be replaced if you plan on boosting any higher. I had it set at 15 psi, and I was in 2nd gear around 6000 and it slipped. So it was higher in the gear, but I freaked and set teh boost controller back to stock since it is my DD.
-AC doesn't work
-102000k miles.
~The Good~
-Boost and A/F gauge in A-pillar
-Datalogger on a Palm IIIe (I'd have to find)
-Custom O2 Dump (buddy welded it, it sounds nice, no leaks)
-2G Ported Exhaust Manifold (not installed)
-TurboXS boost controller (set at 10psi (I play it safe))
-Magnaflow 5in muffler(bought when I was in my ricer stage...yes it's just the muffler)
-HKS "hiflow" intake.
-HKS TT
-Just got timing belt/water pump done.

The back speakers are blown, but I'll throw in the 6x9's that I have in there now. the only thing is they don't fit exact, so I don't have my side panels on because they won't fit on with the 6x9's installed.

Car runs good, never had any problems with it. Newer pads/rotors.

I'm kinda just gauging interest. I still want a "semi-fast" vehicle, but I don't need a rocket like I had planned on building this one to be. I was interested in maybe a earlier Civic hatchback with a swap, or even stock with a few mods. I am taking otu the sound system that I have in my car, unless the car your trading has one in it. I have 2 kicker comp subs, (cheap amp), and a pioneer deck. If you have a good reliable car, let me know. I would like it to look pretty decent since I consider my car to be in good shape, besides the little rust spots.

More info on her:

I am the second owner, purchased her last year from a guy in Bloomington. He worked at Mitsubishi (still does I think) and had her since she had 2 miles on her. She has black leather, like top of the line everything, as in power everything, moon roof, etc. He babied her, and so have I. She was actually sent ot Japan to get the first recalled transfer cases. It was like their guinea pig car. So its got some history behind it. Um, a guy scratched my fron passenger fender over the weekend, but itll buff out (no really it will) its just a little streak of white.

Not sure If I missed anything, just ask.

Hmmm, well I've talked to some people who've have ACT2600 without much problem, but I'll remember things said here. I'm not saying your wrong, but everyone has different experiences.

Really though, how much do you think its going to cost, not including the clutch?

www.diamondstarmotorsport.com has the best deal on the Fidanza flywheel. I believe I paid $235 shipped for it.

What kind of time frame are you in? When would you like to have it done? I'd be willing to do it for some extra cash but I'm kinda slow when working on that sort of thing and I'm just finishing up one of my own.

I could have a whole day to do it, I'm not sure if your thinking like weeks or what, school starts soon so I would only have weekends, and even then I belive next weekend i'm headin to NIU to hang with my girlfriend...but I'm not sure on the days. How much are we talking?

Also I've heard Fidanza flywheels are bad for daily driving, like the revs drop fast or something. The best deal I've found is this one http://www.prostreetonline.com/buy/act_clu...l_combo/psck10/ seens like a really good deal, plus you get 10% off of that i believe...but I'm sure shipping would be around however much you save.

But how do you like the flywheel? Also where could I get it resurfaced? How long would it take you to do the clutch?

Well I have money now, and its time to buy and install a clutch for my car, but I'mnot to good with the installing part, so yea. If you know anyone who does it for cheap, or you'll do it, or whatever, just someone to install for cheaper than mitsu would charge me....let me know. I don't have a clutch either, but I'm goig with the ACT2600 and ACT flywheel, I've heard the best with those. Or I'll go with an ACT2600 and whatever flywheel i can get for cheapest...as long as its good. If you know of any deals, or anyone selling one let me know.

Thanks, and its good to be home,
-Josh

So he bought it the way it is? Either way, is he willing to race at a strip?

He bought a civic and swapped in the GSR if I'm not mistaken. He did it this year, he also built up the engine a lot, and is planning on supercharging it this summer, or so I assume. I never hear the end of it about how DSMs are slow, so I was hoping one of you could show him up. He says he's willing to put a grand down, and I told him it would have to be at a track so that it would be official.
