I traded in a 91 FRD turbo talon on a new car. I was wondering if anyone ended up with it.

It had 2G eclipse wheels and a strange SMIC on it with a ghetto looking boost gage and a gage pod inside and some rigged IC pipes with a 2G intake elbow.

I was just wondering if anyone local got it.

QUOTE
You are more than wrong man it is 30,812 for the big wing and sunroof. Wanna know why I know cause the dang sticker is in my glove box....paid 33,182 for it after all fees! Know what you are talking about before you open your mouth.

What is your problem? I didn't just come up with a random number in my head and post about it. I went to go buy one. Also, going by the GVR4 list, they are suppost to start at 28k, but every dealer is adding something to bump up the price. The red one that we looked at the dealer had added every option avalible to the car like pedels, shifter, crap I don't need.

So, I really don't care what sticker you have in your glove box. Does that give you the right to be a dick? It's people like you that make me wonder why I'm even on a list like this tring to maybe help the younger newer younger crowd out. The GVR4 list is a lot better about other people tring to trash someone else for no reason at all. I could have driven a EVO home that night, but there was no way in hell I was going to pay that much for one.

As far as how much they cost. That depends on how much the markup is. Does your sticker say MSRP at the bottom?

Ya, I was asking if you dumped the clutch. I guess I should have just said that, but I did wan't to sound like I was assuming you just dumped the clutch at high RPMs to take off and breaking all your trannys. I didn't want to sound like a dick smile.gif

One reason I was looking at one slow close is because of the low end torque that fades into the boost so nicly. When my friend had his, I'd say the most we ever slipped the clutch out is 3500 RPMs. I thought that was over kill.

I guess I can only guess to ask is are you running too strong of a clutch? Could you go to a lighter clutch. I bet even a stocker would last more then a month on your car. Maybe you could buy a stocker, slap it on and see if your tranny last longer. You clutch might just be too damn strong for your tranny causing instant bite and putting too much stress on your tranny parts. Are you running a street disk, or some kind of racing puck disk?

You don't rev up an take off do you? Your car should have plenty of torque and go to not need to rev up.

I've drivin a modded Steath TT. Just let the clutch out normal and go.

Look at a Toyota. They have the best quality track record ever. Or, look at a new Mitsu smile.gif No really, the quality is tons better now. They are ranked number 3 behind Toyota and Honda.

Maybe you and I should have a car day. My talon is having bogging ,timming pulling problems. It's been a problem for about 3 weeks or so. It seems to be getting worse and I really need to address the problem. For both of us, it is probably just the knock sensor worn. However, it could be fuel delivery of some sort too. I know the compression on my engine is great. I just tested it. So, it is a sensor or fuel problem for me.

Who has that logger again? I know I need to order a logger, but something always comes up smile.gif

Q: I've heard this question latly and I think the answer is no, but I'm not fully sure. Can a boost leak cause knock? If anything the car would just run extra rich from the missing intake air right? I can't think of anything that would cause knock from a boost or intake leak. I would think power would only be lost from the missing pressure. Any thoughts?

Funny as in ha ha they had funny things to say.

He didn't really try and drive it. Just a slow take off, but no go. He must of trashed 1st. 2nd was better, but there was still some grinding. At first I thought he trashed the clutch disk, but after hearing the metal parts grinding and clunking, pretty sure it's the tranny. A ugly sound I must say. Even tho the moment comes and goes real quick like, you think to yourself, Nooooooooo!!!!. The clunk sounds is a moment frozen in time smile.gif

I had fun Marcus. Thanks for the ride. I'm sorry you had to break your tranny showing me a good launch. The rest involves cell pone woes and cops, but that story is for another time.

btw Marcus, my wife said your kids were funny smile.gif

Just want to let you know that the IC is setup as a side mount. The core is plent big enough for a FM, but the way the inlet is on it, I don't think you could make it work. At any rate, it is slammed in as a SM.

The knock sensor is a bitch to take off. It has a plastic type backing that wears off over time causing the little spring thing to go off.

Also you can't tell if your ecu is okay or not. If you don't know for a fact that the caps have been done, I'd do them.

Is your car a auto? If so, check the tranny fluid, change it.

I can only guess a ECU. Or you knock sensor, but that throws a code. 33 I think, but don't quote me smile.gif cause I'm too lazy too look that up right now.

Sounds like your timming is being pulled.

Anyone who is interested in the IC setup can call me at 309-451-3733. You can look at the setup installed in the car around 5:30 or later. Just give a call.

Way too many things to guess. You need to make a cheap code reader or borrow a logger.

you can get a stocker from the dealer from around 200. At least from Tallahassee anyway.

As for installing it. It can be a head ach. However, it can be done with two days to spare. You will need the extra time in case you need to machine your flywheel. Hopefully your disk is only fried on the PP side and not the flywheel side too.

If you have tools and time, you should be able to change your own clutch out. Unless you are damn good, you will need help lifting the tranny back up. Getting it down is easy. If fact, you can do that part yourself.

It is still on the car.

Okay, I've seen one person on the 12s with the stocker, but a IC upgrade really helps.

Hey guys, I am returning my talon back to stock cause I don't think we are going to keep it much longer.

Anyway, I have a custom IC setup on it that works really well. It uses a nice audi core and the inlets and outlets are about 2.25" or so. I made custom pipping using various rubber pipping and exhaust flanges. Also it has a 2G elbow intake.

I'd like to get $300 for everything. This IC should be able to hit the 12s NP. It flows really nicly.

I don't know anything about the IDES office in Bloomington. I just know that my wife is a manager and she can't get me in. They are not taking aplications as they have too many on file already.

Not likly at all. My wife works at Mitsu, but she is not UAW. If they ever get any openings, they already have a long list of applicants. Also they might have to call unemployed UAW workers for the job first. It's really hard to get in. You pretty much need to know someone who knows someone.

If you buy a good muffler, you should be okay. Mainly a catback and not a glass pack.

It really comes down to if you exhaust is loud or not. If it's not really loud, you should be okay. I've known people who run without anything!

As far as the cops, just look out for them and don't floor it in town. That loud exhaust sounds echos off of buildings really bad.

My friend had a full 3" with a high flow cat, resinator, and turbo back mufffler. It was really quiet. So, it can be done, just cost alot more. If you're like me, you wen't for the cheaper louder exhaust smile.gif

If you see a cop, just push the clutch in and slide on by.
