QUOTE (Kazz5 @ Nov 12 2008, 11:03 AM) I would think that it would be important to keep old threads and make sure they're searchable in any new forum engine... This is a PHPBB forum, I dont see why it couldnt be upgraded and all of the data migrated to the new forum, as well as all of the users I'm not saying this all can be done, but i would *assume* Just throwing things out here.....no one else is chiming in! |

I'd suggest switching over to the PHPBB3 forum stuff I use, its actually free and you can do alot of cool things with it. Security is sometimes a bitch, but I've worked my way through it.... An example of what I'm talking about is at my forum www.rbz32.com I particularly like the photo area at the top, note when you click some different links or sub-forums the picture changes |

Its evident you didnt pick up on the implications of my style of writing....no biggie...Boles was on to it To put it simple I've been servicing and upgrading local evo's for 3+ years now. I've had my hands in at least 7 local Evo's w/out any issues yet. We're not talking indiglo gauges either, the good stuff like turbo swaps, cam installs, clutch installs, hell I even diagnosed one that was crankwalking.....doh! |

QUOTE (awd4kicks @ Nov 5 2008, 10:35 PM) Andy, I've heard that you are using a Borg-Warner turbo these days, and that it added a lot of meat under the power curve. Can you give us some specifications such as size comparisons and your review of the difference versus the Garret 42R that you were running? I've heard that the Hudson's are running a BW and the first DSM in the area that I knew of was Rev-Hard out of the Quad Cities. Still I have no hands on experience with this brand of turbo. One big reason I went to borg warner.... I wrote them an email about a year ago expressing my interest, gave them some specific details on the car, the rarity of the platform/swap, and provided some videos and dyno sheets. Their lead engineer contacted me a few weeks later asking me what I wanted......in other words, they offered up a full sponsorship (but thats why I contacted them in the first place, I was going to switch to a BW) My previous GT4202 setup making 555/405 had ~1500rpm of powerband. It hit full boost by 6200 and by the time it made peak power through redline, that was 1500rpm of fun The first turbo BW sent me was a S360 unit. Twin Scroll T4 flanged, 60mm inducer. At that time, I switched to E85 and we made 530/430 @ 22~psi. A little drop in HP however the lag between shifts was completely gone, and the powerband increased to a whopping 4500rpm. With the 60 I had full boost by 4200rpm and carried out through 8400rpms. I went out and ran 11.2 @ 125 on that setup. I was satisfied but looking for a little more. The turbo seemed to choke out above 23-24psi, so I requested the next size up and BW sent me the 66mm unit. Still a T4 Twin Scroll flanged (.91 AR) unit. This was a direct drop in (no mods needed to fit in place of the 60mm turbo) I really did not making any tuning changes, as the AF seemed to stay the same, and I wasnt picking up any issues. The car felt significantly faster. For whatever reason at Vicary Day, the car lost its timing sync between the ECU and the motor. Down about 15 degrees of advanced timing, the car still mustered an 11.1@125 Obivously now that the issue is fixed, she's running quite well. I'd like to get out to the dyno to fine tune it some more and possibly see if I can squeek out some 9's on boost only.... I spoke with daryl at v-day and to my knowledge he has a BW however has yet to do anything with it...... The compressor maps on these turbos are pretty awesome, I would def recommend these turbos to anyone looking 9's on a full weight, stock suspension, pump gas, stock block car..........my lips are already wet |

Finally, I got to go 10's I was pretty accurate when I suspected I 'found' 100rwhp in my car after the last track outing when I discovered the timing wasnt synced correctly between the motor and the ECU Sine the weather has been awesome lately, Cordova has been hosting some more events, and today me and rizzo made our way up their to see what the car would do. Once again, just like V-day, I pulled the car directly on to the track making no adjustments. I still dont even know what the tire pressure is......boost was set at 25psi and still running E85. The 2-step was set to 5700 1st pass out of the box I clicked off a 10.4@134mph. I dont know how it happened but I managed to click off a 1.46 60ft time on my radials! I lost control of myself after looking at the slip, I was yelling all the way back to the pits, im sure some people were like WTF, lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKbj13xTaNY I made a few more passes in the left lane but IMO it has always sucked, and the right lane is the way to go......the 2nd and 3rd passes I just spun pretty bad The fourth pass I got my 2nd best ever 60ft with a 1.50. I ran the pass out to back my time up within a 10th, running a 10.5 @ 135mph! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbqZqOJRDsI By the 5th pass I was satisfied with my times and that I had backed it up but I went for it once more, this time spinning the tires to a 1.8 60ft, and running a 10.8 @ 136! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5m1qlX2GcHc No idea what kind of power its putting down but I'm assuming 650-700 range with traps like that. I had the nitrous setup for a 100 shot but I was extremely satisfied to go sub 10.5's and the car is still running like a top, I figured best to leave off somewhere to start next year instead of just getting 9's this year For a little bit better quality videos you can download here http://www.booztd3.com/Videos/10.4@134.wmv http://www.booztd3.com/Videos/10.5@135.wmv http://www.booztd3.com/Videos/10.8@136wmv This is truly an awesome feeling! See ya next year fellas |

QUOTE (awd4kicks @ Oct 27 2008, 06:04 PM) Yeah, when I seen James on Sunday he told me about the 15 degrees your timing was off. I don't doubt your rwhp estimate. I've seen significant HP gains on our 4 cylinder DSM's just by correcting the timing from a 2-4 degree retard issue. Get back out there. I want to see what she's got now. Its been my experience on the dyno that my motor typically makes 10rwhp per degree of advanced timing in its 'sweet spots' |

Are you running the manual transmission again? When you say radials, I assume you mean drag radials of some sort? That's a damn good 60 ft. for drag radials! Great run... Is that a new personal best? Marcus Yep, im back to the ol' OEM 5spd stuff........i broke a shift linkage at V-day but that was an easy fix.... Regarding the radials, yes, Mickey Thompson drag radials. These are the tires I run every day......they're about a year old now. They're 275/45/17's This is a new personal best..... The unfortunate part is the car was breaking up in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and I found out last wednesday night that the timing sync between the AEM and the motor was completely off (by about 15 degrees) I believe by fixing that issue I found ~50-100rhwp. I went out and drove the car, logged it, and going off the logs I accelerated through 3rd and 4th gear, 1.2 seconds quicker than I did on my 11.1 pass, haha! I cant wait to get back to the track, I really hope I still have a chance to get back before the year is over... |

QUOTE (JBone @ Oct 13 2008, 08:17 PM) Boostd, Keep up the work, man! When I made the 10 min/ mile mark for a 6 mile run, I felt damn near invincible. It's great. Just push yourself a little more each week. I did it in 1/2 mile increments. Thats actually how I did it the very first summer I started running I could barely make it a 1/2 mile before being completely out of breath and hurting. I would actually run 5 days a week........the first 4 days I would run normal, and the last day of the week I would add a 1/2 mile. So the first week was Monday - .5 Tuesday - .5 Wednesday -.5 Thursday -.5 Friday- 1.0 Monday - 1.0 Tuesday - 1.0 Wednesday -1.0 Thursday -1.0 Friday- 1.5 I did this until I got up to 5-6 miles.....it was def a great feeling, but I got tired of it taking over an hour out of my day...Being at work till 5, running for over an hour, then cool-off.......doesnt leave much time for anything else during the day |

QUOTE (JBone @ Oct 10 2008, 10:29 PM) I don't look like a guy who runs, which is hilarious, but, I'm doing what I gotta do. I've stayed sub 200 now for almost 2 years (25 lbs loss permanently now). At my absolute best, 9 months after starting, I was 187 with 13% body fat. Drinking has done a good job at gaining 10lbs, but I'm workin' on it. We sound almost identical in regards to physical shape and appearance, lol I ran some 5k's this year, averaging in the 26 min range (which is about 3.1~ miles) I have also ran 4 miles in 34 mins, and a few times I've ran 6 miles in just shy of 60 mins. I have never eclipsed the 200 mark, but I think I got close to 185-190 at my lowest excercise, highest intake point....once i got to 190 I cut out alot of fat and ran my ass off for an entire summer, and lost 20lbs Currently i sit about 180-185 now depending on how big of a deuce I've taken the evening before I weigh, but i can attribute the 10-15lbs Ive put back on in the last few years, to be mostly muscle |

QUOTE (awd4kicks @ Jun 6 2008, 06:50 AM) Why do you want line lock? Are you creeping forward at the line? I don't know of anyone using it on a DSM, but that doesn't mean there's not someone out there. Spy was telling me that he read a lot of the EVO guys are holding their E-brake at the line. If your hands aren't already full of gadgets at the line, this would be a much cheaper option. I think Spy mentioned that the EVO guys are using the E-brake to allow them to slip the clutch a bit while revving or on the 2-step to help build boost for the launch. I don't know if my clutch would handle that kind of thing though. Another advantage to holding the e-brake is you're actually pre-loading the drivetrain components.........which should in-turn equal less broken stuff.... My buddy with an integra had his 2-step wired in with his e-brake.... |

Always shut down You need to think about the other racers safety as well as your own. If you go oiling the entire track down (and you could have prevented it) you're going to have a large group of racers pissed off that you're making them wait, not to mention the track officials/crew will most likely look down on you as well. Its a big courtesy thing to shut down immediately when you notice somethings wrong |
