Down here in St. Louis, there has been too much of it lately, and it is starting to rack up the lives claimed.

2 weeks ago, a man with 6 (count them, 6) DUI related charges between MO & IL was driving down the expressway THE WRONG WAY and hit & killed a woman, her fiance, and son. Her daughter, 11, survived. His BAC was .28.

And just yesterday afternoon, a childhood friend of my fiance was hit from behind by a drunken driver in a Corvette excessively speeding. He hit them and pushed them into the oncoming lane, to be struck by a fullsize Chevy P/U. And THAT driver was also under the influence. The woman, her husband, and their 5 month unborn child were all killed at the scene. It rocked Cindy pretty well. And I must say, it has rocked me quite a bit, too.

I am embarrassed to admit that I myself have committed this stupid act (I am blessed I was never arrested). I have even totaled my car. And I am here to say it has to stop. I hope this will cause at least one of you on here to think again and call someone if it turns out you can't drive.

I feel for these people who survived. The driver of the fullsize is a 27 year old female. She has to wake up every day for the rest of her life remembering she killed 3 people.

That sucks man, and your right. It happens all to frequently, and we will see more of it. As the unemployment rate rises, people spend more time drinking their sorrorws away.. those with cars drive them.

Unfortunately it's almost always the people who do everything right that suffer. Most of us who drink have gotten behind the wheel after a few too many. Just remember that a cab is much cheaper than a DUI, and much better on you than having to live with memories like that.

It still floors me though how repeat offenders like that are allowed back on the road. There should be some better punishment/treatment before it comes to manslaughter.
