ok so the 240 is 14 years old. she has her poor qualities, such as no cruise (light comes on, car slows down), and that godawful engine problem that only arises when least expected. well tonight another problem has been added to the list. the g/f and i went out for dinner at about 9:30. windows worked fine. after dinner and after i left her house @ 11, the passenger side window will not go up at all. it goes down fine, but not up. so what does any broke wannabe mechanic do? tear the door apart to see whats up. in doing this i accomplished nothing but to madden me even more. the motor for the window aparently works because it is going down. but i dont know what else to do. could this be a fuse problem? i am afraid it will FINALLY have to go in to a shop. which leads me to my other question. if and when i take the 240 in, i will be out of a car as my backup suby has been turned into lil sis's ride (against my will i might add). so im going to NEED these problems fixed ASAP. i am wondering which shop has the best turnaround time. i like Keith's in morton, but by taking it there, i may never see the car till next may. so where could i take it that i will have it back soon? and if anyone knows what is causing the window problem, please let me know. thanks a lot guys.

I'm guessing its caught on the window channel and your old ass motor doesn't have the umpf to push it up anymore. Try spraying some PB blaster down the window channels and freeing it up a bit. If nothing else, it will make your car smell cool

ill have to try that. except if thats the case, shouldnt it allow me to force it up? like when pulling it up, it would move an inch or so, then just stop.

ok.
cruise control~ before you hit the cruise pull up towards you on the clutch. cars are notorious for having to have the clutch 100% of the way out. window~check the screws on the bracket that holds the window. once your in ther youll know what I mean. if the motor is making noise it more than likely slipped off. hope this helps. |

ok so its fixed. i think it somehow managed to get itself out of the channel. i mean i dont have any idea how this happened, i drive the car very nice, no sharp turns, no high speeds, nothing
