So I have been ripping my hair out trying to figure out why my fwd seemingly lost "that lovin' feeling." I go online, searching the web for anything that may be useful. Then I come across some East Coast club archive thread that talks about base timing and how it can affect, well, everything. So I head out to Slo-Pny and check the timing. I get confused about the indicated results, so I go snag Marcus for a second opinion. Bottom line: with the adjustment plug grounded to take the ecu out of the equation, timing is supposed to be at 5* BTDC. I was at 3* ATDC!! So the timing was retarded 8* across the board! Problem fixed, timing reset to proper setting, the car is quite simply a different animal. The east coast boys said that when their car was off 5*, it was a 20+ hp difference. I believe it. Thanx Marcus for the help, and thanx Lawrence for providing traction ballast on the maiden voyage!! biggthumpup.gif

very nice man. That knock sensor must be wigin out then because with your richness there's no way you were knocking at that timing level(well almost no way). Nice catch. Keep the boost commin

I'd say I'm about 80% certain that the knock I'm seeing is "rich knock." With the timing adjusted and my plugs gapped correctly, it pulls harder higher in the powerband. The ecu doesn't rip timing like it was 2 nights ago. I still lean out a bit at the top end, but the way she sits is how she'll see the strip on the 30th. Lawrence (big hp turbo accord) claims I have "13 sec" power, but I don't know... Perhaps if I can find traction. I'll still replace the knock sensor, maybe that'll make things a bit more consistent.

A side note: With the new timing, the exhaust sounds a lot "sharper." Kinda cool with the passenger window down.
