MAJOR knock!?? Options

I'm getting some super bad knock that I'm reading on my SAFC II. At idle (700-800 RPM's) I'm getting up to 12 counts of knock. Then the other day I gunned it 1st- 3rd and looked down at the peak and hold function and it read that I had hit 120 counts of knock! WTF? Sometimes It seems that I'll run the car out and hardly see any knock at all then other times I see major knock like this. It seems that most of my knock seems to be coming on in 2nd gear but it doesnt feel like its pulling that much timing. Do you think that its probably because I dont have my FPR installed yet and the car tuned? TIA!

This part almost seems like phantom knock. Sometimes its there, sometimes it magically disappears. Check out this yahoo group dedicated to phantom knock, what causes it, and how to get rid of it. The archives are very informative.
