how come you decided to go with the sportlines over the pro-kit? From what I have read the sportlines offer a bouncy ride. If its the drop your after Why not try a set of ground control coilovers.

I want to try and stay away from coilovers. I had a set of no names and they siezed, then I got some ground controls and they siezed too. I didn't know about the bouncy ride of sportlines. I just liked the way that 1.8" drop looked.

I belive the sportlines are more like 2.5-3".... stick with the pro-kit, I think you'll be happier.

They say the sportlines are a softer ride and have a lower spring rate. the drop is pretty severe over 2". which means you'll have camber problems along with upsetting your suspension geometry.
thats surprising on the coilovers sleeves. I'd just stick with a pro-kit or a full coilover then. |

hmm. Nopi said the sportlines were only 1.8". Shows once again how trustworthy their resources are. How big of a drop does the pro-kit make?

being a pop up fan and either a closet ricer or a fan of having car look like it's up on stilts.... I have looked far and wide for the beloved cf hood for 90-91's. I found one site, digging through dsmtalks threads that did them. Saved it in my links, an dthen my computer died.
If i find it again, i 'll let you know. on a side note: I'm working on trying to get wortdogg to make them for a 91, he's made a cf manifold before. but this would probally be a ways down the road. -------------------- game over.

If you can get 15-20 people in on it, I can get them made by Fiber Images (best in the business) for $400-$500 each.

i don't entirely agree with you on how easy it is. Spy would be a good person to ask, as well as eric. You can look up spy's thread for when he created the fiberglass scoop. Sure, fiber glass is a different material, but in either case, it takes a lot of time, anal precision, and hard work to create a stock look alike with pin holes that doesn't look like a ugly bag of mostly water. that's why they cost $500 even though the material doesn't cost that much. Also, if it were so easy, everyone would already have them.
i sit in the same boat as you as wanting to get it done myself, for costs reasons, but not everyone has the time, connections or recourses, and of course i wouldn't look at doing it without some one like eric who is very familiar with working with the material. -------------------- game over.

I've seen Spy's hood.
I have a considerable amount of experience w/ fiberglass, Kevlar, and CF. All different, but somewhat similiar. It's not that tough. Just some trial and error. It just depends on how much time you spend on it, and the outcome and quality will directly reflect it....like any body work. If you half-pooper it, it will look like the I made it with my best effort or a ugly bag of mostly water. Take your time and it will look good, and not so much like a ugly bag of mostly water. |

I found three of them for this year on ebay. One is a no name OEM look. Another is a VIS OEM. The last is a VIS EVO look. They aren't all that expensive either. only about $300-350.
It dosen't really matter all that much anyway anymore. I picked up the car yesterday, got it home, and the motor blew up. Yes, blew up. I'd like to quote Travis. "Not to make you feel bad, but you're car IS the worst case scenario." It at the KOU garage right now... they are pulling it on Sunday. I'm praying its not too bad, and that the head is still good. It was very interesting trying to get it to the garage with it knocking. The knock made it sound like a train. It was BAD. It was still spooling too, but even though it spooled the car went no faster. I'm so sad. I hope that everything gets taken care of and I will have it back soon. This is not a very good begining for this car and me. ![]() REMEMBER: Oil is a cars best friend. Don't deprive it of the sweet sweet nectar that it loves oh so much. |

ugly bag of mostly water- absolutely agree with you there. my point being is that most people don't have that experience, or the time to trial and error, = poop. = people would prefer to pay to have someone else do it for them right. -------------------- game over.

Right.
I don't have the time either either, w/ school, work, gettin hammered....and being 1.5 hours away from home/shop. But when I do go home, I have the resources and it's just fun to horizontal mombo w/ poopy like that. When I bought the civic I just sold, it was frickin rust bucket...huge hole on the rear quarter panels, and on the bottom in front of the back tires...had to weld in metal patches, fiberglass over it, finish it..etc. Looked perfect. Of course flat black hides a lot of imperfection, but nonetheless damn near perfect. |
