Just wondering if anyone on here is going to be at the Battle in Joliet on Sept. 18th and 19th? I've always had a great time, and it gets better every year! biggthumpup.gif

uuhhhh, that sounds much more fun than a 2 day event with pros being there, car show, bikini contest, stereo competition etc. rolleyes.gif J/K man. anyways, if anyone wants any info, go to http://www.chicagolandspeedway.com/cgi-bin...=a&EventID=1039

Wow...priorities. I would rather go to an event where I can pay $40 and run all day, tune my car, hang out with a solid group of people, and settle scores. Bang for the buck. Pro racing is awesome, don't get me wrong, but it is too surreal. If one of the cars were mine, it would be different. I prefer street cars anyway. And the people at shows are annoying. I'll be at the Slo-Pny event. My .02.

I believe Battle is $65 for a 2 day event, it really isn't a bad deal at all. I was just seeing if anyone ever went to this event on here. Me and some friends have went the last 5 years, and always meet new people, as well as seeing people and catching up from years past. There are WAYYY more street cars (probably 95%) than pro cars, it is just an awesome experience racing in a multi million dollar NHRA track, and watching the pro's in person. There is everything there from 9 sec daily driven Supra's, to your run of the mill 17 sec. cars. Usually there are between 200-300 street cars and 10 or so pro's.

Good numbers, impressive. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure that no car I've ever owned would be allowed to run a real event at a real track. $65 is a damn good deal for two days though. Have fun!

A lot of us went to the 'Battle' a couple years ago and it was a good time. The awdnot2 crew goes every year. There are a ton of cars and people that go compared to other import events other than NOPI. Plus any car can run as long as it meet's the tech inspection which is quite a bit more stringent than Cordova. The number of people and cars makes the lines long and the number of runs few.

Oh yeah and I would say a majority of the cars there run between 15-18 seconds. The part where they run these slow classes seems to take for ever and it is ...well boring so we would just go roam around the stands and check out the other cars.

I like the locally hosted test & tune events like the Sport Compact Drag Challenge, Slo Pny Drag Day and Vicory Day because they seem to attract people that are more seious about performance than anything else even if they aren't that fast yet. There's not a lot of glam to get in the way of the true intent of racing at the smallerr events. This also allows some racers to get in between 20-30 runs at some events! Craziness! biggthumpup.gif
