my brother's 96 gs-t will sometimes pop out of 1st gear all by itself when you go to take off. he went ahead and paid the 40 dollars for o'brien mitsu to check it out, and they seem to think it's crankwalk. neither one of us has heard of this being a symptom, so we figure that there's bound to be someone on this site that would know for sure. any help you can give would be appreciated. thanx.

is there any possibility that it could be a problem with the shifter cable? like maybe if it had gotten stretched?

Sounds like a drivetrain issue more than crankwalk to me. If the linkage isn't all the way into gear, misadjusted, etc then it could pop out. More likely would be a transmission issue (needing rebuild) though.

Hard to say without driving it but I definately wouldn't look to crankwalk first if those are the only symptoms.

Is he noticing any other CW symptoms to make that seem like the cause?
