is this the correct place to install a gm maf? i am inquiring for a friend any help or advice in this area would be appreciated.

That is the correct 'Blow Through' locale. The GM MAF can also be installed between the air filter and the turbo inlet like stock for an easier install.

Personally I would prefer blow through but my current setup is in the stock location.
