I was out testing a new fuel pressure setting...and somewhere out making some aggressive runs I puked about 6-8 oz of oil out the dipstick.

I have heard that popping the dipstick is a symptom of a failing engine. The boost pressure leaks past the pistons through cracked / loose rings or cylinder wall imperfections and escapes through the dipstick

There's a section in the VFAQs about this. Mitsu90 has the right idea behind it. Crankcase pressures rise and cause the dipstick to pop out. Theory is that it is either a weak dipstick seal or failing piston rings. Good rings will pop out a bad dipstick and bad rings will pop out a good dipstick.
Pinch the dipstick tube with a pair of vise grips at the top, and that should keep it in place. If not, you can wire the stick down to a convienent spot on your engine. Whatever you decide, do something to prevent oil on that exhaust manifold! -------------------- QUOTE (gsxracer80 @ Oct 31 2006, 12:41 AM)

Thanks guys. I'll keep an eye on it. The car has always popped the dipsitck out a little. But it's never puked any oil. I'll try pinching the tube and see if that fixes it.
