I'm doing a few mods to my 90 laser fwd turbo:

2.5" uicp, 3" full exhaust, rewire stock fuel pump, and mbc. Possable kriss144 intake/K&N filter.

I'm thinking of getting the stock side mount welded for 2.5"/1.75" out put and getting the dejon tool licp w/output. Would it be worth the $$$ and what kind of power would it give me?

Thanks,

-Joe

I would recommend a slightly different route for you at this point. Keep the exhaust and MBC (I'm assuming you already have a boost guage, if not, get one.), but I wouldn't focus on the IC just yet. It's a bottleneck for sure, but you can still get a lot of power out of it. I would advise you to spend that money on a Walboro 190 fuel pump, some injectors, and possibly even a MAF-T or similar setup. For the money, the fuel mods will give you much more benefit than messing with the intercooler right now. Also, they set you up for more critical upgrades later. Just my .02

The 2g mas and the Translator is apples and oranges. One is an upgrade, the other is fuel control.

The 2g mas is nice, certainly, but the translator gives control over fuel, allows for larger injectors, rids you of fuel cut, etc.

My post included and afc: the MAF-t. One other thing I would add is an AFPR. And if you want injectors, I've got a set of 550s looking for a home.

I don't know how long I'll have the car, thats why I was doing small mods and probably wasn't going to step up to a 16g. If I would step up to an EVO III 16g, would the 550s and 190 be enough?

As for boost gauge, I'm getting a vdo, but I don't have anything installed as of yet. I still have to chase down my vacuum leak and replace a few gaskets.

I believe an E3 will max out 550s. And the mods you are doing should net you mid 13s, to answer one of your original questions.

I didn't mean to imply that you should upgrade your turbo. Many great things have been done with the 14b. Just ask AWD4KICKS and JMoushon. You would be surprised to see what that stock turbo will do for you.

I'm not an expert when it comes to fuel pumps. I'm pretty sure the 190 would be able to handle 550s, but again, this isn't by strong suit. But if you're not looking to go really far with this car, I would stick with the 14b for sure. The E316g would drive the cost of your project up considerably. And yes, the E3 will max out 550s. Been there, done that.
