has anyone here ever enrolled in the classes at Universal Technical Institute... aka, UTI???
I have been looking at it quite a bit and keep thinking it would be a good idea... has anyone attended or heard good or bad about the program there??? Thanks for the input Ben -------------------- You CAN sleep in your car, but your CAN NOT race your house!!!

My best friend went there, and when he graduated high school he knew almost nothing on cars, now he knows more than me (working on them since i was probably 6), he was taught more american v8 style, and not alot of the import, turbo stuff, so i got him beat in that catagory. But he was able to find a job right away, but only started at 9.50 an hour, and 20k in school debt, not including tools. and i make almost 3 dollars an hour more starting at my warehouse job with no debt. So i dont know if hes getting screwed or thats the going rate.
So he seemed to like it alot, and if you love to work on cars i guess its a good thing to do, i wished i did when i had the chance to go with him. Even though i really hate working on cars (well my own when its all i have to drive) LOL -------------------- 2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS- Pretty daily driver

With a degree from UTI, you can work in just about any shop you want. The difficult part is finding a shop that pays well enough to support yourself, your equipment, and your student loans. Look into Parkland College in Champaign as well. Their automotive department is funded by Ford Motor Co. and all the graduates become ASE Certified I believe. I guarantee it's cheaper than UTI as well.
