K my sister has my gs 1.8L and sent me this today and i was wondering if any of you guys could help me figure out whats wrong w/ it?

The car sat for 2 months with out being started. Then the first time I went to start it the battery would turn over but it wouldn't start. Tried again later that that day and the same thing happened. Put some heat in it and gave the keys to some one else to try it the next day. The guy told me that it actually started for him but then it would turn itself right back off. So I decided to put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner and 2 bottles of gas treatment in it and it started and stayed going long enough to get back to my apt which was probably about 2 miles..... then that same night it worked to go to the store and when I came back out the store it wouldn't start again so I put another bottle of gas treatment in it and it started back up. got it back to my apt and the next morning when I woke up it wouldnt start. Then I put a bottle of octain booster and gas treatment in it. it started back up so decided to try and drive it around a little bit. while driving it it would just turn off on its own. It didn't make any noises it just turned off really quiet. While driving it around it did this about 4 times. the first two it started almost right back up so I decided to keep driving it. The third one I was stuck for about 30 min so I decided the next time it started to go back. When I got it to start I went back. I had only gotten about a mile away (when it did this the three times). Then it died once on the way back too and it took about 15 min to start back up. Later that afternoon it would start but turn right back off (with out driving it). Finally I got it to stay running long enough to get it down the street to a shop. They called me the next day to tell me that they couldn't find any thing wrong with it. that they had started it just fine and that it ran for 30-45 min and so then they took it out and it still didn't die. So that day and the next day it ran just fine for me all over town, but this morning when I was driving it it just turned off again..coincidentally right infront of that same car place... so I got it pushed into their parking lot. and this time it wouldn't start again...

That kind of problem may be hard to find if it isn't the ECU craping out. She needs to cut back on the fuel addatives though, Dang! That stuff doesn't burn as well as gasoline and may cause a mixture problem. If old gas was the issue, fresh gas would be the answer, but it doesn't sound like the problem.

Good luck, but check the ECU if the shop can't find any codes like an intermittent crank sensor or resistor pack.

On my old 1.8 it ran like crap one time and i did a tune up (cap, rotor, plugs, etc) and it didnt help it any, and it ended up being a bad distributer. Put a remanned one and it ran fine but ended up going through 2 more for some reason cause they kept crapping out too, so i got one from the Mitsubishi Graveyard website and put it in and it has been fine almost 2 years now. I did notice all mine were missing some kind of plastic dust plate or something and this one has it, and thats all i can tell of the difference between the used one and the remanned ones i got.
