I want your old blown Fel-Pro headgaskets. I got a call back from a guy at Federal-Mogul that said he wants to see some of these blown headgaskets so that they can determine what is wrong with the Fel-Pro gasket and try to fix it. I noticed that the gasket I got at Mitsubishi IS a composite gasket not multi-layer steel. He said that they went down to the Mitsubishi dealership and actually bought a set of head gaskets. One for a 1.8,2.0, and a 2.0L turbo and said that all of them are up to par with the Fel-Pros. SO....please send me your blown gaskets and lets get this gasket problem fixed. Thanks!

That's interesting and a positive step for Fel-Pro. Unfortunately this problem is old enough that I was warned before I even tied one. To be honest I've never even chanced a Mitsubishi stock (Composit) head gasket except the one that came in my original set-up. Every rebuild I have done has included the multi-layer style head gaskets.

I believe Darryl originally told me to go with the multi-layer gasket. He still uses composit gaskets because his cylinder head is O-ringed if I remember correctly.

After the Nopi Gateway race we've switched to the Mitsu 4 layer.

Hmmm..... I did not realize that Mitsubishi made a composite AND a multi-layer steel gasket. I assumed that the OE replacement was the gasket I was supposed to get. My parts guy down there did not tell me there was a different option. Any idea how to get the multi layer version?

They have them through Mach V. I also went with the mitsu composite gasket, but for my application im guessing i should be ok.

You use a Mitsu 4 layer on that monster? I figured you used an O-ringed copper embossed gasket like an SCE Titan or something.

I'm currently using a Cometic HP head gasket. Its multilayer steel like the Mitsu and has built in o-rings. Hasn't failed me yet.

Tried to order a Cometic today with no luck. Slowboy said that all of Cometic's stuff is on backorder and they don't know why.

That's because he didn't know.
BTW Ive got a good one. Gasket held up fine for 1K and 2 full days on the dyno. The second that the car was in cooler air the tubo boosted an aditional 10PSI now the head gasket is hanging out by the water pump. If any one wants to do a grop buy for comitec head gaskets let me know.

Sorry, Brett didn't mean to hore your thread.
