Okay guys I need your opinion on a new car. I have been looking at the new Saturn Sky. Below is a picture of it but dont know if anyone has heard of any potential problems. They are suspose to come out here in early 2006 but I dont know If I want to take the chance on buying the first year model of a new car. It has an outstanding warrenty on it but dont know if you guys know any insight you can offer. The car starts at 19.9k but will actually cost me 23k.

Thanks in advance.

It's the Saturn version of the Pontiac Solstice. I've read many a review of the Solstice and it's almost all positive. I've heard nothing on warranty claims or recalls, however. You might try to find Solstice fanatic boards and see what they're running into.

http://www.solsticeforum.com/forum/
http://www.solsticespeed.com/forums/

etc.

I like the looks of the Saturn from the front better than the Sosltice methinks - but give me time and an opportunity to see more of the Saturn version before I cast my actual vote!

But if you buy a Saturn would that make you haunter's li'l ... nevermind!

I dont know but it doesn't sound good!

I cant stand the front end of the solstice, its is ugly as sin. I have found a couple of good forums but everyone on there is spitting off at the mouth. One good one is spyroadster.com

The cool thing about ordering it now, I get to pick my options like LSD, Radio options, Ect.

Kicks should be privy to some technical details, as manager of the Saturn shop.

arent they supposed to release a supercharged version in 07? if ya could, i'd just hold out to get the sc version... although i read that gm performance parts would be offering a supercharger kit and possibly a turbo kit for it... so i guess if you're really itchin for one... go for it! it is definitely a hot car!

I dont think I want to have a sc or a turbo on it. I will not be racing it in any events so I think this will be my weekend car only. too much bs and $$ to get the sc or turbo!!! ;-)

Hammer has already built an LS2 Solstice - being reviewed in the mags now. Think it's an additional 18K on top of price of purchase of a stock Solstice ...

I agree that the Saturn Sky is a HOT looking roadster! It looks better than the Solstice in the pictures I've seen. With that in mind I've seen the Solstice in person and it is sexy in a very unusally exotic form for an american car. So how much better will the Sky be in person!?!? I can't wait to see them come through the dealership. They are due in spring of 2006. Getting your hands on one may be a trick though. All initial skys scheduled to be delivered to our Peoria Dealership this spring have been spoken for with deposits from hopeful buyers.

As of yet I do not know of any technical problems, recalls, campaigns or such for the Sky and Solstice. It is the first production year, but the engine is tride & true.

In 2007 they will be producing supercharged versions of the Sky using the Redline Ion power plant.

As far as V8 versions, they are in the works. I posted links to the Hammar site a little while back.

BTW - Just to set the record straight, I am the Service Adviser as oposed to the Service Manager. But that's close enough for me! biggthumpup.gif

The Pontiac Solstice IS coming with a turbocharger in '07. A friend of mine works at the Pontiac dealership here in town.
