Does anyone have a 1G auto tranny, used or rebuilt for sale? My sisters transmission is going out of her laser again, looking for something cheap preferrably to keep the car alive just a bit longer. The car is a 1994 Laser 1.8 auto, i know its the same tranny thats in the 2.0 so either or will work. Not sure if year matters though. Thanks

jason

PS this one was rebuilt about 3-4 years ago by a local tranny shop. Was never pleased with the work and feel like i was reamed on the price (2 grand) and now the same thing has happened to it again. from a stop the car would stall and not move, then with enough revs would "catch" and go. Tranny fluid is burnt. And it was a remanufatured torque converter put in last time too. Thanks

My brother has one sitting on his floor out of a 91 laser N/T. It had the 2.0 liter 4G63 in it but it might work. I believe the donor car had about 120,000 on it when it threw a t-belt. The car set for a year and then the engine and tranny was pulled from the car last winter. So, the disclaimer is that it has not done anything but sit for a couple of years, but I can give you the best price on it. Free if you pick it up in the Peoria area.

We might be interested in that, could i get some contact info on your brother and check with him. Huge thanks if it pans out biggthumpup.gif

The trans from the 4g63 is identical, the one in it was from my old eclipse 2.0 and from the outside atleast, they are the same. And it did last for 30,000 miles. I guess the year difference it the only thing i would wonder about.

He already trashed the car and we were just keeping the engine around for donor parts for my 6-bolt build. The only reason it is there is for my benefit so if you want it I can meet you at his place. I will PM my cell# to you.
