Got a similar issue, curious as to the answer, if it exists. Is it true that non-OEM throw out bearings make noise when the Mistu OEM doesn't? Nate, Kicks?

My unfounded opinion is that the aftermarket clutch disks and/or pressure plates have some slight imbalance that cause the input shaft bearings to make noise. The noise seems even more pronounced with an aftermarket flywheel.

I don't think the throw out bearing has anything to do with the noise.

I know that the star throwout bearing that was in my car when I picked it up was making a shit ton of noise.... when I swapped out the trans in my car, I swaped the throwout bearing with a stock Mitsu one... so far so good and no side effects with it either. also, no noise

I don't have any noise coming from my OEM throwout bearing with the ACT 2600 pp and Fidanza flywheel. Of course, I only drove mine for a month this winter before I took it apart again.

I've never had any unusual noise from the OEM TO bearing in the Talon. I'd stick with OEM given a choice.

The white talon never made a peep with its 2600 and fidanza flywheel. I'm assuming an OEM TOB was used in the install, but that's just speculation since I didn't do it. I guess you're supposed to lube the throwout bearing with some sort of special man-ayse. huh.gif ph34r.gif

Lube is especially important on the input shaft. MidwestDSM can tell you what happens without any lube. That's what happened to his FWD laser.

Agreed. I like to have gobs and gobs of lube on the input shaft before it goes in. Makes for a less noisy installation technique. tongue.gif

You are definetly correct, unless its going in a pre-lubricated orfice, its extremely important to make sure the shaft is properly lubed. Trust me, you won't make any friends by missing this important step, and it can definetly cause some damage.

should I pick up an OEM TB before I install my new spec or just use the spec one ?
