I am starting to pull the engine in the Talon this month. I am pretty sure it had crank walk. Spun to different sets of bearing. Does anyone have any suggestions before I dig into this project to far. I know there are a hand full of you that have dealt with this same problem before. And I know you are all going to say do a 6bolt swap but I am on a budget with this. I dont want to throw another 1000 to 1500 back into the engine. If the head is still good I would like to reuse it. But what do you guys think?

My opinion is, do it right, do it once. If you don't have the money to do things correctly the first time, how will you ever afford to fix the problems that an intermediate solution will cause?

I would seriously look at the 6 bolt swap. Once you start pricing the rebuild of the 7 Bolt, you'll might as well spend the money on the 6 bolt. You can easily spend $1000 on a "stock" rebuild: bearings, new crank, oil pump, gaskets, machining etc. Why spend all that cash if you're going to be worried about it walking again.

I'm not sure what the other's might think about this, but you could cheaply pick up a 6-bolt NA block, and swap the necessary pistons/connecting rods out. You'll be without oil squirters, but it's an option, I guess. It would be cheaper than sourcing a fully assembled 6bolt turbo motor.

I have a 6-bolt with a spun bearing that I'll sell you at a fair price. It'll need to be looked at by a machine shop.
