Starting last Sunday Hot Rod Magazine has been sponsoring this 'Drag Week'. Hammar (With the 383ci powered RX7) posted this up on CID sometime ago...

180-250 bare knuckle drag cars driving the entire way, throwing down amazing feats at the 1/4 mile, and having a riot while doing it.

Hot Rod Magazine's Drag Week. It's the week of September 11th. It kicks off at Cordova (no shit, Cordova!) and ends at Cordova (nope, I didn't stutter). There will never be an easier chance to be part of a nationaly promoted automotive performance event like this.

When I signed up, I was number 180 something out of a possible 250. If the Mutt can make 1500 miles, your junk surely can. Tell the wife you have to. Take vacation. Call in sick. Who gives a rip, just be there

For those that didn't get it by now, I'm looking for drinking buddies during the trip, can ya help a brotha out?

I checked the rules and information out on hotrod.com and this is a cool deal. with the reputation of DSMs breaking, mine in particular I wouldn't think of taking it. I did just about have SloPny talked into taking his freash Stang though. Had his car been ready ahead of time I think we would have given this a ride.

What brought all this back into mind was a wicked 68ish fast back Mustang screaming down Rt24 list night in 4th gear at 55mph last night pulling the maximum by regulation trailor with his back-up gear in it. He was followed by a newer TA that was also pulling a trailer and sounded good as well.

The Old Stang sounded like it had a blower and was sick dripping with the sense of dragster when I pulled up next to them at a stop light. I was so jacked. I mean these guys are like celebrities in my world. I was looking over at their tired faces with a big thumbs up mouthing the words 'Drag Week'. That is a sweet ride in an awesome road trip.

Sadly Hammar's 3rd member gave out on him at the first drag strip, but I give hime HUGE kudos for giving a shot! Some of us ought to plan on going next year.
