There's a link on Tuners about it.

Anybody have any comments?

I have trust issues buying speed/vital parts on eBay. Especially anything that claims to be from Japan and seems so easy.

I probably wouldn't bother, most of the power gain of the 16g and 20 over the 14 on a same boost level basis is actually in the larger exhaust housing. The only advantage of upgrading the compressor wheel is to run higher boost levels.

A 20g with a 6cm exhaust housing will spool pretty quickly and hold 25+psi to redline, but the exhaust turbine backpressure will be extremely high and you won't make as much power as you would with a 7cm exhaust housing.

I hear you but there not all bad. I think if you just remember "if it's too good to be true..." rule you'll be alright.

I bought a turbo rebuild kit from GPOP on Ebay and it was a pretty good kit. Packaging was good and the componants seems of good quality. The turbo went back together great and seems to be holding up great (knock on wood)

Thanks for the input guys, I thought it was an interesting kit. Guess I''ll have to keep saving for a 16g

16G?????

Go big or go home. A 16G is hardly a step up from the stock 14B.

Here's the one I was building for. Something middle of the road, and made for plenty of power. I never intended on seeing the full potential of the turbo, 400hp would have been plenty.

http://www.diamondstarmotorsport.com/turboparts.shtml

Almost halfway down...

PTE GT32E
Supports up to 520hp. (should be able to make 475 at wheels) Our test car has a stock engine, FMIC, full 3" exhaust. Spool-up is slightly better than the PTE 50 and precision says it can support more power. This makes it our standard "off the shelf" turbo. Standard Sleeve bearing center section.

3" compressor inlet, 2" outlet TO4E compressor housing.

Uses the standard Garret T3T4 oil line kit.

Thats what I'm saving for too. The EVOIII is an awesome street turbo for the money. Maybe it won't be the biggest step up for you like turbohcar said. But for me, coming from the teeny, tiny T25 its going to make the world of difference.

So what if you could find a 16g 7cm housing to go with the 20G conversion kit??

You could effectively have a 20G for relatively cheap money.

Just thinking out loud guys.

Oh and Brett, your turbo sugestion would probably kill my racing budget for the whole year (or two)!! No good having a big turbo and not be able to have the money to race it!! It would be nice though! biggthumpup.gif

Yeah, that's pretty much what a 'sleeper 20g' is. Its not quite as effective as a true 20g, but its still enough turbo to take you well into the low 11's on racegas.

Wouldn't you need the bigger exhaust wheel to go with the bigger housing to make it a true 20G?

No, the 14b through the EVO III 16g all use the TDO5H turbine wheel, so the 6cm and 7cm housings interchange.
