Leon Reitman of Reitman Racing & Buschur Racing blew the previous best 14b 1/4 ET of 12.04 completely out of the water with a 11.842 @ 113.43 in the 1/4. His vehicle is a 94 Talon TSi 14b without nitrous, but I'm going to have to check and see what all he has done to go so deep into the 11's with the stock turbo!
BTW - That's .08 seconds faster than the fastest 16g time listed...Wow! -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

The fastest 16G is only high 11's? I'll take that challenge.
Marcus, you're going to have your hands full, but YOU CAN DO IT!!!! (....all night long) I want a ride in that 14b'd track slut you call a daily driver. -------------------- my cars breath smells like car food

I don't even want to know why you looked in the galant section. J/k
![]() Still, two measly 16g's huh... ![]() Kris, your more than welcome to take a ride buddy! The acceleration isn't nearly as incredible to feel in my passenger seat as it is to watch my tailights from another car though. ![]() -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

most big 16g's with 20 psi boost, 550cc injectors, high volume fuel pump, and a s-afc, and a decent exhaust will run low 11's. Add Kris's 3" turbo intake and your golden!

I'm not try to be a jerk, but I'm not sold on the 16g HP worth per dollar versus spending 1/3 more money for a monster turbo.
BTW - on the ET list the small 16g actually has a faster time than the big 16g. I'm sure there are some fast people out there with 16g's that don't turn in their times, but you would think if it's that common someone would have timed it at the track and posted it. Maybe owners of the big 16g are a cult of non conformists. ![]() -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

As far as taking the big 16G into low times, I think I've got the junk to do it.
Right now I'm running 21psi on pump gas and timing is great. The car pulls like a freight train all the way up to redline. Figure in the fact that I've got more than enough supporting mods for a much bigger turbo as well as the traction of AWD with the weight of a gutted FWD and I think the car is deadly. Did I mention that my custom gauges indicate a 40psi boost level even at idle speed and a 175hp NOS shot at all times. That parachute button is going to come in handy when trying to stop from 130+mph at the end of the 1/4. My biggest problem right now is that I keep blowing IC pipes right and left, but I'll take a page from Nate's playbook and replace the 'high torque' clamps given with spoolinups cooler kit with t-bolt clamps and I'll be set. The only other things I'd like to have when searching for solid 11's would be cams, a light driveshaft, and the poor SOB who could only muster 11.8 with a small 16g's wife's phone number so I could call her and show her who the man is. But that would all just be icing on the cake. Having said all that, I'll probably end up never going to the track with the car, but I'll GTECH it sometime soon and never tell anyone about it if I'm wrong. Since everyone else is paper racing I wanted a piece. -------------------- my cars breath smells like car food

QUOTE (awd4kicks @ Jul 1 2003, 01:48 PM) I'm not try to be a jerk, but I'm not sold on the 16g HP worth per dollar versus spending 1/3 more money for a monster turbo. You're right. Now. But back in the day when it was either 16G or 20G, no one really had a choice. The vendors weren't producing custom turbine housing turbos mated to true garret compressors and center sections for less than $1K like they are now. Even when I bought my 16G cartridge for 500, it was unheard of to get a large turbo for less than $1300 and even then you'd probably have to spend another 500 or more to get the thing to actually bolt on properly with the manifold and wastegates were always a concern. I knew I'd eventually go bigger when i bought my 16G but I haven't regretted it a bit. I've waited a little over a year now and the new product offerings for DSM's are tremendous. So much so that I still can't decide what to go with. Good thing I'm happy with my 16G. -------------------- my cars breath smells like car food

I'm glad your happy with the 16g Kris, but don't misunderstand me. I'm in no way judging your purchase or any one elses. I'm saying, based on what's available today (The point in time that I have the money available) the new larger turbos pack more bang for the buck and high tech options are available for quicker spool.
My personal objectives can probably be met with a 16g, but why spend $500-700 for 1-3 car lengths in the quarter when I can turn that into 1-3 bus lengths for $1000-1400. -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo

Heh heh...I just seen your other post with 40psi and 175 shot Kris...
![]() I think it's obvious that with these little turbo's (and engines) we're just playing around. Why because it's easy to make power and they are fun to drive with the superior, all around tramac grip of AWD! Or the 'Drama' of FWD tire scorching. I mean if someone gave me a sponsership and threw down the gauntlet for a professional and fast car...don't kid yourself. I wouldn't be messing around with these stock parts and minor bolt on's. The sad fact is, that extreme level and kind of racing takes the fun out of it for me personally. Sure, if I could live on a job like that I'd be there in a heart beat, but I have more fun toying around with my daily driver and shocking other gear heads every other day. Especially the ones that can't tell a subtle, soft shifting four banger from their a$$ on a plate. ![]() I'm in it for the fun and you can only take a 14b so far before you need more room to grow. The 16g just doesn't allow enough growing room for the dollar. I want to tune into a turbo's potential, not just use it as another mod/step. Let me put it this way...I'd rather spend a lot of time going through and enjoying all the levels of a story style video game than to simply get the 'cheats' to say that I won. But hey, that's just me. Anyone wan'a race?! ![]() -------------------- In Loving memory of David T Crebo
