I've got a MBC, a/f gauge, and a boost gauge all waiting to be installed as soon as I get a pod.
My question is what do you guys think I should get next. I was thinking of starting on the exhaust. I only have about $300 right now so I can't get too extavigant.

Also I have an ACT 2600 pp that I got from Darryl that I couldn't use (guy said the pins wouldn't line up right?) that I would be willing to part with in trade also if anybody has anything that I might need or be able to use.

Tell me what you guys think.
TIA

K&N FIPK, cat-back, UIC pipe and then 1st gen BOV. I personally did the UIC pipe last but it was the biggest improvement on my 2nd gen. Take the fuse\relay box off some day and take a look at how small that stock plastic UIC pipe gets. Its seriousy probably squished down to 1\2" under the fuse box. Also, I wouldnt up the boost until you have at least exhaust. Its kinda like giving the car asthma. Your turbo will take in more air, but will have a hard time forcing it out the stock exhaust. On a side note, I have a great condition 14B turbo and pretty much everything youde need to install it on your 2nd gen. Trust me the 14B pulls ALOT harder at top end then a T-25. A T-25 flows 280CFM whereas a ported 14B can flow ~450CFM. I might be willing to trade you that kit for the clutch assembly. I'm assuming that its for a 1st gen AWD?

Pretty sure I have a spare 1G BOV around that I've got advertised for $30. (Shameless plug I know)

While we're on the subject, I just noticed that you're a 2G. You can also pick up a 1G intake and throttle body (good upgrades for the 2G) on the cheap as well. I know I've got both advertised for like $80 for the pair.

You will notice the biggest gains from exhaust work though IMO. That and the turbo. If it were me and I was driving a 2G, I'd wait just be on the lookout for good deals if you're on a budget and pick them up as they appear. At the early mod stages it seems like someone's always got something for sale on the cheap.

Have you looked at the upgrade path on Buschur's site or the VFAQ?

I these guys are on the right track with the next steps for modding your car.

I think the guy that told you that clutch wouldn't fit was somking something. All the DSM's (1st gen, 2nd gen, 6 bolt, 7 bolt, whatever) use the same clutch. I've heard a lot of funny crap like that lately. Heck, I was talking to a guy that said the autmatic and Manual transmission cars had different blocks in them! blink.gif I think people just don't take the time to check stuff out sometimes.

Good luck on the deals!

Really? Wow, I was told a few months ago by someone 'in the know', that a clutch I had ordered for the FWD Laser would have to be sent back when I switched to the AWD chassis as it wouldn't mate up. Figured he was right and that since the flywheels were different they wouldn't mate up.

Sure about that Rob? I'd just taken it as fact after I was told. (I tried a quick search and found nothing on DSMtalk but did notice that turbotrix and roadrace don't specify different part numbers for them.) Hmmm

I have a ACT 2100 from Nate's FWD in my AWD.... tongue.gif

The clutch bolt patterns and pin locations are identical for all cars. Call any of the parts dealers, and they will confirm it.

All I know is that he said that he couldn't get the pins on the pressure plate to line up. Whether he even tried or not I don't know. Oh well I will probably be replacing it again next year anyway and at least the car is driveable now and there are no problems with the clutch.

Kou I'll take the BOV, intake and TB. When will you be around again?

Mark95 all I have is the pressure plate, not the whole assembly.

Not sure on how different the disks are but you could pick up the pressure plate, use a stock disk (I'm sure a few of us have them around) and a $25 (I think) oem throwout bearing and voila.

Might want to check with Daryl too, I know he used to have a spare ACT disk around that was in good shape.
