cruise control and engine performance

I had a strange thing happen on my last road trip in my 92 talon tsi.

When driving on the highway with cruise, the car suddenly felt as though it had zero power, the boost went way up, and the check engine came on. When I pressed the gas, it felt as though there was no power. The car maintained its speed, I assume because of the cruise control. After about 30-40 seconds, everything went back to normal with a surge that felt like launching at the starting line.

This happened 3 or 4 times. When I turned off the cruise, it did not fail at all. Is it possible the cruise control could be impacting this? Possible relay problem? I had problems engaging it.

The car goes in next week to be checked out.

new kid (talon) on the block

Greetings all,

As the new kid on the block, I thought I should introduce myself and my car. I hail from the birthplace of the DSM, Normal Illinois.

Until 1/5/2005, I drove a 93 Talon DL, but it gave it's life protecting me in a close encounter with a semi on the interstate up in Wisconsin. I have replaced that Talon with another. A 92 Talon TSI FWD. This new car is actually in better condition than the 93 and has 70,000 total miles less than the 93.

So now I am trying to get used to driving an automatic regularly after driving manual for the past 25 years.
