Dont feel like writing a new message, heres my post from dsmtalk:
Today was a very depressing day....I never thought this day would come, I consider myself a good driver and usually very lucky.... For those that don't know me or my car, I bought the talon with 72,000 miles and I have been modding it since day 1....It had 82,000 miles on it at this point, I just got done breaking in the new clutch....It ran a 12.7 @ 112.5 before the install, weapon of choice is a Ported evoIII with my own special recipe of tuning....I learned everything I know from this car.... Anyways.....I was driving today in my area, when I decided to go around a slower driver before the 2 -lanes merged into 1.....The roads are DANGEROUSLY Icey today (icestorm in the afternoon) and yet I still thought in my mind I could control the car doing a full 2nd gear pull..... Well, I passed the car and of course immediately lost traction from the icey roads....I started to lose control but I kept countersteering....Unfortunately, the merge came and thats when I just lost it..... ...Talon did a complete 180* turn, flipped into the ditch, and rolled 5 times until I landed upside down in the farm next to the road.....I got out immediately, shaken up but very aware of what happened......Witnesses say it was straight out of a movie, the accident was just UNREAL.... Pics do not do justice: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Aftermath at the lot: - ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ^^^ By this pic I had already gutted all the expensive items from the car.....I took the aem wideband/radar/headunit/shift knob and everything else I could get my cold, shattered glass filled hands on.... Roof caved in completely, Im surprised I walked away as well as I did....The police/fire department are even more surprised....I actually climbed out right away and walked to my friends who thought I was dead for sure....Shaken up of course, but left with nothing more than cuts from the glass, a small foot injury and well.....A near $10,000 investment laying in ruin... REST IN PIECES..... -Josh

Hey guys....
I dont post on this forum much, but I was just doing some work on my car, trying to get my tune setup correctly (wideband is at 11.0 but wanna log knock) but I think my DataloggerCable broke... I don't know if Bud G still talks on here, but I need to contact the guy to see if he can 'rebuild' my logger....I took out the casing and it looks like the wires that run into the connector (db9?) have detached....I couldnt get them back in and to stay, so it looks like I need to send back my cable I bought in may and have him put everything back together..... Do you think he could do that, and does anyone know how I can contact the guy? Thanks a lot central -Josh chicago_dsm

Hey guys...
Im running a PalmIII xe (os 3.5) and the mmcd software...I've got a cable with a 3 prong connector hooked up correctly to the 1-10-12 prongs on the diagnostic port... For a while I could log and there were no problems, and then sometime later I just have nothing! I did the SAFC install, and had a few loose connections, but I dono why the logger wouldn't work b/c of it! If I press "Test" as a mmcd function, instead of pulling a code (no CEL) it will come up either as 'Serial Comm error' or 'Ecu comm error'....What is going on? Im using 1.5 software now b/c after I installed 1.8 is when the problem seemed to start, or at least when I first noticed it... Possible Fix: Im strongly considering buying Budmann G's logger cables, which look to be much better quality...I don't know if my problem is the cable tho, altho buying a better cable will at least rule out the possibility...Im looking for any other ideas or advice...My 560cc injectors are waiting to go in, and I need to see if Im knocking with my current safc settings and the fuel pump in...Help me out guys....Thanks a lot for reading -Josh

6-bolt motor is recommended Hey DSM'rs...I live in the Chicago area and am looking for a 1g awd 5sp...I sold my last 90awd a few months ago and my deal to buy another one just fell thru
So, I am back on the market, and so far have had bitter luck...I am cash ready and looking for a decent 1st gen...My requirements are: - Not a Project car ...Has to have a motor/tranny/body/etc..Has to run! - No major problems ...I don't want to deal w/ your un-finished repairs...I can't expect to find absolutely no problems, but I don't want to have to throw on a new tranny/head/shortblock/turbo...Minor things are reasonable - 6-bolt motor is recommended - Modded is ok ...As long as the car is not already in 11 second race car mode, some bolt ons or turbo swaps are ok...I just want to leave some room to do work myself - 5sp working tranny! No auto's or trannies that need to be rebuilt...I need to be able to drive it Other than that, it can be a 1ga or 1gb...Whatever! As long as the car runs good, has a decent body, awd 5sp, and is under $4500, then I will not turn away from a serious offer! ----> Tsi/GSX are recommended tho Thanks a bunch, reach me at: - Quikshift Tsi @aol.com & AIM - Chicago_DSM@ yahoo.com and at Dsmtalk & here if you PM Very Interested in your 1st gens...Let's see what you got |
