Looking for some feedback if possible. I was thinking about header wrapping the hot side of my charge pipes from the turbo down by where the two pipes cross by each other all the way too the 180 bend. Stopping before the 180 as to get some of the air to start cooling it down just before the fmic. My thinking on this is to reduce engine bay heat and reduce the heat possibly going to the cool side of piping where they cross. I was also thinking about header wrapping the exhaust manifold to for the same reason. I have been getting mixed info on doing the charge pipe. But I have found that some professionals are doing this. So I would like to see what everyone here has t osay about it.

This is how it looks now

Here is my ride with the motor out of the car. Looks pretty bare doesnt it?

Here is the lonely 420A on the engine stand. The cylinder walls still have cross hatch marks on them which is a good sign. Although we seem to be having some trouble getting the timing belt gear off the crank. LOL! When inspecting the pistons we found the number 4 piston had 3 cracks on the sidewall.

These are the pics after I got the head back from Bumper to Bumper. I did my own porting (gasket matched basically) on the intake ports.

Here is another shot of the head after I gasket matched the ports.

Now for the bling. I polished the intake manifold, elbows and turbo housing. This will just be the beginning of the polishing probably. We are also looking into modding the intake and making shorter straighter runners. Wont happend if I dont find a donner 420A intake runner.

Hanging here is the valve cover its been cleaned and primered so far. Yes the letters are taped off. When this is done it will be red with polished letters.

Of course you have to have the pile of stuff. Here is my turbo, fuel rail, timing belt cover, exhaust manifold and sensors.

An overview of the area.

CHECK IT OUT! YESSSSSSSSSSS! My lower end parts.

Had to lay it all out too make sure I got everything. LOL! Right Acutally I was so excited I had to take pics. LOL!

Yes I am truly looking into getting a 1g GSX. But I know very little about these cars or should I say the 4g63 other than what I have ran into when I worked at the plant. This ride is already modded fully internally and externally so does it still matter about the crank walk if it has different piston, rods and bearings? Also what block was it that they finally got this problem basically taken care of and how do you tell what block you have? Jesus I feel like Ive never worked on cars before but this motor is still pretty new too me and I want to make sure I get a good buy. So any input would be appreciated. Like drivetrain problems to look for and such.
