... if the oil that comes out of your recently purchased motor looks more like chocolate milk than oil? Could this just be condensation from sitting too long, or is it most likely a head gasket? I've yet to do a compression test, I guess that will tell the tale. If the compression turns out ok, is there something I can clean the motor out with without taking it apart? God, I hope I know what I got myself into....

Is this the motor in one of your recently purchased cars or another one?
I did have a friend pick up a 350 a while back that had some nasty looking oil and he thought the head gasket was toast. Changed the oil a couple of times and it's run ever since without a hitch.

I'm going to pick up a compression tester this morning and see what that tells me.

Holly crap I have never seen oil like that bud! I would assume that it has been in there for a while and had time to seperate itself!

Compression test didn't pan out. Couldn't turn the motor over fast enough to build up any compression. Decided to go ahead and pull the head and oil pan. Good thing because the oil pickup was caked with crud. Seen Here At Josh's suggestion, I pulled the cams, re-installed the spark plugs, and flipped the head over. Filled the chambers with brake cleaner and not 15 seconds later a small dribble comes running out of the intake ports... looks like the head is going to be rebuilt.

Anybody know what the going rate is for a motor filled with water and a bad head? I think I'm due some money back.

This is the motor that will eventually go in the 93 GST. Seller seems to be cooperating for the moment... helps that we stoped payment on half of the payment on him...
