My clutch appears to be starting to slip so I guess its come time to get a new one, it was inevitable anyways.
I just want to know what everyones opinions are on their clutches, because i want one that is as close to stock feel as possible, but still able to hold strong.

I'm only shooting for around 350-375 horses, evoIII b16g turbo, front mount, on a 2g GSX, 18" wheels...
Right now I am leaning towards the clutchmasters stage 3 or ACT 2100 (most likely CM), let me know if im off or whatever, thanks

The feramic one that AMS sells is supposed to be quite good. Several of the GatewayDSM guys are using it and like it. It's supposed to be comparable to the ACT 2600, but uses a stock pressure plate. With the setup you mentioned, it should be pretty good.

From what I've been told, I've got a clutch master's stage 3 in my 95, and I love it. Weight feels similar to my old 2100, but seems to grab harder. I'd also suggest looking into the Star clutches. Slo Pony swears by them, and they have had good luck so far with them in the DSM's.

anyone else...? Anyone with an aftermarket clutch, just a quick comment of your own opinion will do wonders

ACT 2600 is the old stand by. Personally I don't think the pedal pressure reputation is deserved. All the ones I've felt, although not 'stock' have been perfectly streetable for my taste.

in my old (rob's new) '95 TSi, i had a stage 3 clutchmasters. i thought it was a bit heavy for city driving, but it held awesome. in my new gst i have a centerforce stage 2 and i think it is perfect for me. its not too heavy at all, yet grabs great.

When I bought my car it came with a star clutch in it and I love it, even though it probably only has a minimal amount of miles on it, I am concidering replacing it when I do my engine/trani swap, I am going to go with the star clutch again.
it seems to have a bit stiffer clutch pedal than stock, it is definately streetable. I was using it as a daily driver and I never had any complaints,
although trying to teach someine how to drive a manual shift car with that clutch was a bear!!!!!

by the way spy, with now having 99,700 miles, how many miles does my clutch have on it now, when was it replaced??? I assume it was done while the car was in your possession.(am I mistaken???)

I think the Centerforce dual friction clutch is the one im goin for...
I just dont want bad engagement, because i will be daily driving this car

i cant seem to find much info on the clutchmaster's and which kit is which... (it doesnt say stage 2 or 3, etc... just part #'s)

Beware of the centerforce... Althoguh I'm sure it's better than stock, the last one I saw installed burnt up in less than a year.... in a FWD. Just my experiences.

Long ago I used center force clutches. I had brand new one just before the T3/T4 turbo and FMIC went on. It would not hold the power at all. It would slip around 5 grand in each gear. Power then was maybe 375-400? Went to the ACT 2600 and never looked back. The car dropped into the high 11's that summer and the clutch lasted from June 98 to April of 2000. There was 50,000 miles put on the first year and over 150+ drag stirp launches over the life of the clutch. A brand new ACT 2600 propels the current race car in the 9's. I may step up to the 3000 this year if need.

i bought the Spec (star) stage 3 clutch and it is getting installed tomorrow... we'll see how i like it, im assuming it will be a much different driving experience then stock.

All I can do is smile, shake my head, and repeat "that's awesome" over and over again to myself.

My Spec Stage 2 has been holding up well, it started slipping around 4k miles after I put it in. When I pulled it out, it had a little bit of Syncromesh fluid on it, which appeared to be coming from the output shaft to the transfer case. I just lightly sanded the friction surfaces and used some brake cleaner to pull the oil out of the kevlar. Its been holding fine again since.

Once cleaned, the clutch disc looked like brand new, it was not visibly worn at all.
