Just a random thought today...Has anyone ever put a 6G72 Mitsubish V6 twin turbo engine from Stealths and 3000GT's in a DSM? Or even a non turbo would still be bad ass. Is it physicaly possible or is there not enough room in the engine compartment? Hmm, well I would be interested on what people have to say about this.

I've thought about this too....and It would be difficult, although someone may have done it. Even if not, ANYTHING is possible.

I think that the 4g63 has pleanty enough potential that no one has seen the need to try that. Would be kind of cool though. Sawsall would definately be involved.

yeah 4g63 are good enough, i wouldnt buy an S3 because the 4g63 are so powerful.

This is one of the questions that I asked on the Talon Digest about four years ago. Back then they told me that it had already been asked a million times and that it wasn't feasable to make the fittment a reality. I know it's possible monster garage style, but you would need the 3S transaxle to hold the torque and the length from the timing belt of the engine to the outside of the transmission would probably require a modified wheel spacing and a wide body kit to go along with it.

I totally agree that the 4g63 is a more than capable powerplant, but as it goes, theres no replacement for displacement, and the twin-turbo V6s can put out some pretty amazing numbers and times, even in the heavy ass 3000gt/Stealth.

I've been trying to convince Spy that he needs a twin-engined 3000gt now that he's going to have two 6G72 engines. That oughta bring the power-to-weight ratio down where it needs to be. Hell, I'd offer up my garage for such a project if the woman would let me get away with it.

this is sorta on the same lines, but a lil different. what about an EVO 4g63 in a dsm? every evo motor ive ever seen looks the same, yet completely opposite. would this be possible too? just wondering.

an evolution motor will not fit(at least as a direct bolt in) in a 1g dsm...it has a front roll stop as do all the 7 bolt motors...in addition the timing belt and pulleys are on the left hand while facing the turbo and the throttle body is on the right ... it's a quite different setup

I do agree that the 4G63 is an awsome motor...no complaints there. I hate my V8 friends calling my engine a 4 banger all the time and thats what made me think about something other than a 4 cyl in it. But I will probably just put up with them, lol. I got into a good argument about displacment vs. technology today. I'm not taking sides...I believe whatever you can squeeze out of your engine, whether it has 120ci or 350ci, is what it makes and the prouder you can be when that displacment is lower.

I agree, I used to be a domestic car kinda guy, camaro's, mustangs, and corvette's but when a 2.0 DSM 4 cyl can make the same if not more power than a small block chevy V-8 you come into something called the "weight game"

technology vs. displacement... hmmm, that question's about as old as dirt. one thing i have noticed, however, is the lack of sportsmanship i've seen/experienced/heard of from domestic displacement guys is another strong reason why i'll never own a camaro/mustang/corvette/etc. the import and sport compact scene, by far, is much more accepting of people. the concensus, for the most part, is that if you're heart is in the scene, you're okay, even if you don't have a car. again, just from what i've seen/heard/experienced.

on the other hand, don't show up to a corvette club car show, because if you ain't got a 'vette, they don't wanna see you.

really, i think this comes down to "feeling old" vs. "young at heart". sounds corny, but it's just a little something i've noticed. the older generation seems to side with displacement, mainly bc that's what was cool when they were growing up. the exceptions are the open-minded "young-at-heart" individuals who're pushin' late 40s and still pimpin' civics. that's kinda cool to see, ya' know?

in either case, can't we all just get along?!
