Does the idle drop when your tach drops too? And when you turn your heat on, you dont have the AC button turned on do you?

mine does the same thing, then it recovers and the normal idle speed resumes as usual... every vehicle I have ever owned including my brand spankin new cavi has always done it.

sometimes it doesn't matter because if you have your heater control set at defrost, it automaticly turnes on your A/C to get rid of moisture in the cabin... my guess with out looking is that your belt is old and glazzed and needs replaced... you have a pm!!!!

My 1.8 liter escort startind doing the same thing. Then a week later the alternator went out. Replace that belt and check your alternator. Its not something you want to die unexpectedly. My car finally died in the drivethrough line at longjohns.

Advance Auto and Auto Zone both will test your battery and alternator for free

the belt for your car runs $10.99 for the cheap one and $15.99 for the good one at Advance Auto
