Good job on keeping the search for power and power losses alive as opposed to living with what you find yourself with Spy. It's not a totally rare characteristic, but it is suprising how many will lay down and accept their current power level when upgrades are just around the corner.

Besides being out of touch with my Talon down, I find it hard to tell someone their car isn't that fast or as fast as it should be. What do I have to go by, but my own car which ran 13.2s on the street and 12.6s at the track. Sounds kind of pompous any way you look at it. Sorry I let you down azz hole!

Way to go, Spy. Am I the other senior member? I thought I was pretty honest in my deduction that your car felt slow compared to previous tuning we had done.

It don't matta. The Evo's still gonna smoke that POS. If not, you can always try playing with the big boys and step up to the Talon.

Btw, the wife's got plans tonight so we can do some logging/tuning on her if you like. That's an open invitation to anyone else who wants to stop by as well. I'm installing the KOUmotorsports/SSautochrome header on my Talon tonight. Looks like I should be able to get it to fit without too much trouble.

Time for a new turbo?

Just read this at ~4am and am dying to know how it went.

I spent a few hours with a back lit computer screen trying to trace dyno charts to come up with the same curves someone posted on dsmtalk and I can't for life of me get them to match as the naysayers state.

Obviously though I've got a little too much time invested here to be unbiased so I'm really curious how it went... especially top end pull.

Bad news, Travis. I tried my damnest to get the maifold to fit, but I'd have to do a few things which I really don't want to do. First, I'd have to run with no radiator fans whatsoever. I currently have a fluidyne radiator with skinny 12" spal fans and even those fans are too thick for me to fit the fat turbo with that manifold. Second, I'd have to cut my external dump and have it rewelded. I could just cut it to get it to clear the front crossmember, but then it would be blowing hot exhaust gas right on the crossmember. So I'd have to get it welded to direct the gas behind the crossmember. Finally, even with the radiator fans out it looks like the turbo outlet itself would need to be where part of my radiator is. At least it would be so close that I wouldn't be comfortable with the torquing of the engine under load. So basically, it just not going to fit with my fat-ass turbo. It just brings the turbo out away from the engine too far. I'm sorry, buddy, I feel terrible.

If you could get SSautochrome to make the manifold fit like a stocker then I wouldn't have any problem testing it. But as it sits right now, its just not going to fit.

Hey, If that manifold is still floating around here in the next couple weeks I'd offer up the 16g bolt up. As of now it looks like im gonna go with the evo 3 manifold.

I'm cool with trying it on a 16G set-up.

But I'm worried about it not fitting right with Nate's big turbo. I think there are a lot of bigger turbo guys looking at the GB and I don't want them to get screwed.

The fan issue with a Fuidyne makes sense. Would it have fit with only one fan? Crossmember and O2 dump issues make sense. Not crazy about them but fixable if it was more than just a test pilot scenario.

I'm trying to picture the turbo outlet along with the radiator issues. That sounds like a really big deal. Can you explain a little more to help me visualize or have pic I can see by any chance?

I'm going to propose a revamp of things to SSautochrome to see if we can place things closer to stock location and fix the flange for any future runs (please note as of now the ones made will all be like this).

The passenger side fan won't work because the compressor outlet needs to be where the fan is. Like I said, it also looks like it needs to be where the radiator is to get the manifold to fit, but I also have a 90 degree elbow welded on to the turbo which makes the compressor outlet slightly longer. I should have mentioned that before. I know the welded 90 degree elbow is pretty common among guys with larger turbos on DSM's. The driver's side fan won't work because the manifold brings the turbo out far enough for the wastegate actuator arm to be where the fan motor is.

If SSautochrome can revamp the manifold similar to the way Spy describes fitment shouldn't be a problem. It would be ideal if it could fit exactly how a stock manifold fits, because my turbo doesn't have any clearance issues with the stock manifold. The problem simply comes in that the tubular manifold simply brings the turbo out too far from the engine. This is okay for smaller turbos even though lines have to be cut and/or bent a little, but clearance seems to become a problem with larger turbos.
